What are your thoughts on this scripture passage…

“Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”
But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?
And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus,
“Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭23:39-43‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

He never says the so called “Sinners Prayer”
He is not baptized or filled with the Holy Spirit
Heâ€s paying a heavy price for his sin
He probably watches as Jesus dies in front of him
He does recognize Jesus as Lord and King.

How do you think this affects us or how we/the church believe things should go?

I believe he was saved because of John 11:26
English Standard Version
26 and everyone who lives and believes in me (A)shall never die. Do you believe this?”

One lesson we can take is not to complicate things. One doesn't need to be a theologian to be saved. Jesus succinctly summed it up in
Matthew 22:36-40
English Standard Version
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, (A)“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And (B)a second is like it: ©You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 (D)On these two commandments depend (E)all the Law and the Prophets.”
Anti-individualistic, the Fascist conception of life stresses the importance of the State and accepts the individual only in so far as his interests coincide with those of the State...

Thatâ€s a good scriptural example K9. And I agree.
Sometimes I believe we get caught up in what our denominations teaches, and those are not always Biblical. God alone knows the heart, thatâ€s why we canâ€t make a judgement on someoneâ€s salvation only He can.

Itâ€s a great lesson exemplified of the world and doubt of God while also showing the promise of faith rewarded.  Trust and faith of salvation will be not forsaken.

It's never too late to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
The big question is what is Paradise?
