His ability to groom QBs has been second to none, which is the most important part of any offense. The others I would put at honorable mention would be Lincoln Riley, Warren Ruggiero (Wake Forest), and Jamie Chadwell (Coastal Carolina). My only issue with his offense is we can get away from running the ball sometimes when we should be pounding the rock.
For example we didn't use treyveyon Henderson enough, he'd get 2 or 3 carries and then a backup would give him a breather
Maybe he didn't have the stamina, idk

I guess some would say having a 5 star player at nearly every position makes coaching a lot easier. Few coaches will ever inherit the level of talent he did and he ran with it. The issue is can he maintain it? Time will tell. Based on comments on here, he did not meet expectations this season.

Offensively yes but defensively no.

Heâ€s not just maintained it. He took urbans high standard of recruiting and upped the quality.
No longer GroupThink 'woke'. but it was fun while it lasted.

Too early to say that.

Too early to say that. 3 classes isn†t too early….consistently top 4. Top 2 in avg value

Classes have to be judged by performance on the field, not recruiting services.

3 years. 2 playoff appearances….one playoff game win, should be two. 2-1 record against Michigan. On that topic, 1 big ten loss. A rose bowl win.
Only if the expectations are so out there that any sign of weakness is a sign of the apocalypse
And trending downward by year 3. Don't forget that he took over a program that was arguably the second best in the country. He is firing staff for a reason. Like I said during the season. The jury is still out on Day. The program is still, at worst, 3rd best in the country. Such a silly statement. It's not like Urban or Saban hasn't ever lost two games. The last year Urban was here we had a garbage defense, and got demolished by Purdue. PURDUE. Itâ€s a ridiculously silly statement. Recruiting in top 4…..#2 by per player rating……11-2 season…..stupid.Â
yes, the defense needed adjustment. And thatâ€s what heâ€s doing. I got the Coombs hire, I understand the concept of keeping him due to circumstances….and Day was spot on in making the changes. Day may have a ton to learn as a HC, but I wouldnâ€t trade him for anyone in the country , even a 70 year old Saban. Iâ€d rather have an extremely talented 38 year old who is still learning than a 70 year old that has a couple years left. And no Iâ€m not saying Day is a better coach today than Saban. No kidding. When Urban was Dayâ€s age he was still coaching at Utah. Saban was the Browns DC.  Neither had come anywhere near a NC game.
Day is still learning and growing as a HC, and managing a staff on the other side of the ball is part of that. Given that tOSU went to the NC game in 20â€, it would have a bad, bad look to clean out the entire defensive staff. He wound up doing that anyway when he demoted Coombs after the Oregon game.Â
Rumor had it that Day asked Washington to stick around and take over DL coaching when Johnson retires, but Washington wasnâ€t interested, so Day brought in an extra veteran DB coach, b/c Knowles is handling the LBs himself. Hard to believe, heard he tried to keep Combs.

Top QB†s want to come here because of him. Urban never got those qb†s.
