Objectivism can't be understood by watching a bad movie from a book nearly the length of War and Peace. Read Anthem, The Fountainhead, and Atlas Shrugged then read her explanations of objectivism and you might get some understanding. Libertarians should be intimately familiar IMO. Like any philosophical movement I doubt anyone would agree with all she promoted. For instance she was an atheist and pro abortion. Although she mostly endorsed Republicans.

The left (meaning non-liberal left) hates Atlas Shrugged because the entirety of the philosophy is based on people sucking. If they accept people suck, it means something like socialism/communism can never work.
