Dave Aranda (no chance)
Bill O'Brien (no chance)
Justin Wilcox (no thanks)
Chip (I'd be good with this but it's not a very creative hire)
Sitake (interesting possibility, not sure what I think about it)
Matt Campbell (meh)
PJ Fleck (no opinion really)
The first two on the list are delusional Duck "wants" O'brien imo is the best of that bunch.Â
PJ is a great Coach just not a good fit for Oregon
I laugh every time Matt Campell's name comes up. Dude averages 5 losses a season . Has 5 this year and possibly #6 after their Bowl Game with Clemson.
Not to mention zero conference titles, and zero CyHawk wins (even though the CyHawk game was Ferentz's Achilles heel prior to the Campbell hire).

Apparently just requested to speak to Sitake…he wouldnâ€t be a super exciting hire but probably a pretty safe choice.
edit: just heard from someone that the interview already happened and Sitake bombed it. Cross him off the list.
Lane Kiffin getting floated as well. I just donâ€t see that happening

Oregon is a very good coaching job with great facilities and resources. I would have to think it should attract very top talent.

Attracting good talent hasn't really been the issue...keeping it has.
I woke up this morning with a message from a friend that is kind of connected...they said Phil Knight is pushing hard for Justin Wilcox from Cal.
That would be a VERY underwhelming hire.

Except for a couple of schools, the SEC is swallowing college football like a black hole. I would like to see USC resurrected and Oregon remain a good program but it's going to be tougher and tougher.

Just heard that Tim DeRuyter (Defensive Coordinator) is now officially gone too, headed to Texas Tech to take the same position.
This is gonna be a VERY thin staff for bowl prep and game.

Sounds like Lane Kiffin is becoming The main target, from 2 different people I know…
I think itâ€d be a good hire, relative to the other viable options

Alabama is swallowing college football like a black hole.  SEC hey day was more or less 1980 to what, 2013ish? LSU a couple years ago being an outlier.  Georgia solid, but Alabama owns college football now.  No longer the SEC.  Clemson and OSU have given everyone else hope, but reality has caught them.  Alabama laughs at reality and just keeps trucking.  It†s beyond comprehension what Saban has going down there.

It's more the money than the on the field dominance. SEC got the multi-billion dollar contract with ESPN and is breaking up other conferences. They just gutted the Big 12.

Still no update in Eugene. It has gotten to the point that people are tracking planes from all over the country.
The only thing of interest at this point is seeing two planes landing at the Redmond Airport in central Oregon...one from LA, one from AZ. This is notable because Phil has a place at Black Butte, just a few minutes away from this airport.
I think it'll come down to Chip, Wilcox or Kiffin...some rumors about Ducks taking a shot with an NFL coach so the previous three are likely Plan B.
