One of two Yuma County women accused of taking part in ballot harvesting during the 2020 Primary Election has pleaded guilty to her role in the scheme which was exposed by two concerned citizens who set up a video camera near a polling station.
Alma Yadira Juarez admitted to committing one count of ballot abuse by knowingly collecting early ballots which had been filled out by other people. The offense has been designated as a Class 1 misdemeanor for which Juarez is promised a term of probation with no jail time when sentenced March 16.
Juarez, 42, was indicted by a state grand jury in December 2020 for a single Class 6 felony of ballot abuse. Her co-defendant, Guillermina Fuentes, would eventually be indicted for two Class 4 felonies of Forgery and Conspiracy, a Class 5 felony of Ballot Abuse, and a Class 6 felony of Ballot Abuse.
The charges against the women came about after two Yuma men -Gary Snyder and David Lara- set up a hidden camera to in hopes of uncovering ballot abuse long suspected to be occurring in their county. Video evidence Snyder and Lara turned over to the Yuma County Sheriffâ€s Office was forwarded by local officials to the Arizona Attorney Generalâ€s Office.

Some call it cute. Rational people call it wreckless and dangerous hyperbole. Still others would call it blatant dishonesty.

Attorney General investigation rejects nearly all allegations of dead voters in 2020
Claims of dead voters in Arizona are greatly exaggerated, Attorney General Mark Brnovich said in a letter to Senate President Karen Fann detailing his office's finding on allegations of dead voters casting ballots in the 2020 election.
In the letter, Brnovich says 282 claims were submitted by the Maricopa County ballot review and only one was deceased at the time of the election.
The letter states that “our agents investigated all individuals that Cyber Ninjas reported as dead, and many were very surprised to learn they were allegedly deceased."
Brnovich†s Election Integrity Unit also investigated reports of dead voters filed by other sources.
They found numerous discrepancies in the data, including cases in which birth dates and names did not match. Of the additional 6,000 records looked at, Brnovich states that only a handful of potential cases existed.
The letter concludes by saying Brnovich supported the Arizona Senate†s ability to audit all of Maricopa†s 2.1 million ballots cast in the 2020 election, but that “allegations of widespread deceased voters from the Senate Audit and other complaints received by the Election Integrity Unit are insufficient and not corroborated."
