Hightop77Compilation of some great throws from the outfield.

Nice video.  Of course my favorite is from the 1974 World Series where Dodger catcher Joe Ferguson is playing right field and cuts in front of the weaker throwing CF Jim Wynn to make the catch and then throws out the tagging Sal Bando saving a run.  Perfect throw to LA catcher Steve Yeager with Dodger ace Andy Messersmith on the mound.

Iâ€ll check out the video. There had better be at least one throw by Cesar Geronimo or I will
consider this video to be unworthy.

Bo Jackson HAS to be on the list of greatest all around athletes of all time.  Heck if he's not at the top I'm not really sure who would be.

Damned straight.  Here is another video of the Joe Ferguson throw which was a perfect strike and Yeager's incredible play at the plate to make the tag.  Great call by Vin Sculley.

I'm not sure which is the more idiotic tradition in baseball  --  that a catcher can (could, now) block the plate or that a runner can blast into him like a linebacker lighting up a RB that just caught a swing pass out of the backfield.  If you want to play football go play football.  This crap, IMO anyway, is garbage ball.  It's like hockey's fighting gimmick.  Shed the skill and go straight into meatball territory to sell tickets to people that don't really GAS about your sport.

And yes, Pete Rose taking out Ray Fossey in an All Star game was bush league trash.  And yes, the idiotic allowance of the blocking of the plate allowed that crap to take place in the first place.  Can you block any other base?  No.  But home plate? oh yeah!  #### the skill, we love drama!   Rolleyes

Blocking a base has changed.   But it depends IF the catcher or other fielders have the ball when blocking.
• The catcher may not block the pathway of a runner attempting to score unless he has possession of the ball. If the catcher blocks the runner before he has the ball, the umpire may call the runner safe.
• All calls will be based on the umpire's judgment. The umpire will consider such factors as whether the runner made an effort to touch the plate and whether he lowered his shoulder or used his hands, elbows or arms when approaching the catcher.
• Runners are not required to slide, and catchers in possession of the ball are allowed to block the plate. However, runners who do slide and catchers who provide the runner with a lane will never be found in violation of the rule.

Me and Bo have something in common. We both had a hip replacement due to Avascular necrosis. Which is basically deterioration of the femur bone in the socket of the hip. Both were left side also.
