Dilemma
(06-14-2021, 10:40 AM)Blinky Wrote: I was under the impression that the father was supposed to pick the song for the daddy-daughter dance.

Shows what I know.

Didn't know that, my daughter picked the song at her wedding but perhaps that's because I don't listen to ANY music and dancing to AM radio might be strange.

I don't think there is an exact rule on this. My daughter told me there would be a Daddy-daughter dance, but never asked for my input. My younger daughter, who I am extremely close to, is getting married next year. And I will be picking the song (she's not aware of this yet lol) and already have the song picked out.

100% agree, which is why I've never been, and probably never will marry. It's not worth the risk.

I was close twice but walked away. No regrets thus far.

If you are well off, then you are crazy to even maintain a girlfriend.

You might as well see how many gals you can bone in a year, and then set a goal of continuously breaking that record each subsequent year.

Meh. That's not worth it to me. HIV and Herpes aren't real high on my priority list of things to have

Ha!

Well I wasn't suggesting that you spend your entire fortune on skid row hookers.  Big Grin

I much prefer middle age, recent divorcees.

Most of them can't have kids, have super high libidos, and are VERY willing to have a good time after a few bottles of wine.

It's a beautiful time to be alive!

I enjoy being in a monogamous relationship with a lady I consider a partner and friend. I expected to retire single and the prospect was somewhat depressing to me, but I was not actively seeking a wife of course. I'd probably live in the country with a lot of dogs.

The imagery of living "off the grid" is rather appealing but probably not very realistic at my age.
I'm against all over generalizations.

I know the 3 I came close to marrying. I don't socialize with them but I know them and people that know them. I'm very happy it didn't work out because all 3 I now realize would have ended badly. I do have big regrets about not having children. If I knew what I know now 30 years ago I'd have figured something out.

At 40 I made my peace with no wife/no kids. That's just too damn old to start a family.

I'm glad that I didn't marry any of the crazy dames that I dated in my teens and twenties. That would have been bad.

The experience felt both insulting and humiliating, but I was a good little soldier and did what my daughter had asked. As the vows were being executed, I was a bit teary eyed, but for the wrong reasons.

The experience improved afterwards, as I spent time with my parents and other children (and step child). She only did the daddy-daughter dance with me, and picked the perfect artist/song for this (Jimi / Little Wing). So I can give her some credit for this. On the dance floor, she told me "you'll always be my number 1" or some bullshyt like that.

Anyway, I'm mostly over it. I've been watching her little puppy (a 5 month old Golden Sammy) 4 days per week for the past 2 months, and 24/7 for the past week. The thought occurred to tell her to find a new dog sitter (maybe suggest her Step Daddy). But the problem with this plan is I've already fallen in love with this pup, so I would be punishing myself more than her. So I'll go along with this, for now.
What a guy.# loser🤣
