Was waved for Robinson and Napoleon McCallum
So, 2 in 40 years? Â Both of those at least 30 years ago?
im not against a JCOS or whoever has the decision to extend mercy. Iâ€m just saying that the kid made a commitment…..and adults should keep their commitments when called to do so
That your opinion , I happen to disagree. Especially when the decision comes down to any politician . As John Fogerty says " Not a Senators Son"
I don't think the decision comes down to a politician. Joe Biden didn't say "Come on man, this kid's gotta stay in the Navy"
As a compromise, Secretary of the Navy John Lehman granted Robinson a waiver to receive commission as a civil engineering officer in the Naval Reserve for only two-years instead of five. He served at the Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in southeastern Georgia
Roger Staubach resigned his naval commission after serving out his initial time in Vietnam, and then in Pensacola
Napoleon McCallum was another different scenario. He played while in service....
After graduating in December 1985, McCallum stayed at the academy as a recruiter. In May, McCallum was selected in the 1986 USFL Draft by the Baltimore Stars in the third round after a trade in the previous year with the San Antonio Gunslingers.[5] In 1986 the Navy assigned him to USS Peleliu (LHA-5), home ported in Long Beach, California, near Los Angeles, as a supply officer. McCallum played for the Los Angeles Raiders while on active duty that year; the military does not prohibit outside employment that does not interfere with service.[6] He rushed for his season-high NFL totals with 536 yards while splitting playing time with incumbent Marcus Allen.
No longer GroupThink 'woke'. but it was fun while it lasted.
