Agree, Jack's major total

Usain Bolt's 100 and 200 times have gotta be just about out of reach. I don't have the times but if I recall he's pretty well under 10 for the 100 and under 20 for the 200. FREAK.

Nicholas's major record would have been broken during his own lifetime, if Tiger didn't have a ten cent head.
It is perplexing that so many folks view it as unbreakable.

I suspect that Tiger had some help during his crazy stretch. Just look at pics of Tiger from 1997 and Tiger from, say, 2005. 2 different dudes. Guy driving within 80 yards of the green on par 5's. Then his back is wrecked?   I know I'm just speculating, but I have eyes and common sense too.

Tom Brady's 7 (possibly 8 after next season) Super Bowl wins.

See, that's where you don't see the obvious. Tiger got a ten cent head because he couldn't handle the fame and fortune. Jack was able to handle it. To beat Nicklaus's major record you not only have to be that good of a golfer, which is almost impossible, but also able to keep on track with all the distractions and injuries. That's where the rub happens. His record is safe IMO.
Wilt's 100pt game.
Wilt's 55 rebounds. Stockton's career assists. Nadal's 13 (and possibly counting) French Open wins.

Okay, but it's not like it took 100 years for someone to make a run at Jack's record. I don't even think that Jack was retired yet when Tiger started raking them in. To suggest that his record is absolutely untouchable for all of eternity is just ludicrous, given the evidence, rates and stats that we currently have to work with.

Yeah, just my opinion and it is probably wrong.

Those types of hitters are not sexy enough.I agree, ichiro would've made it very close to pete or possibly surpassed him, but who knows, because his average was a lot higher in Japan facing worse pitching than his average was in the states, so while his total combined hits was higher than Pete, I think he would've fallen just short, however it is fun to talk about. Another guy was Tony Gwynn who was also a similar style hitter and the other two and man that guy could hit too. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Kobe getting 81 was awfully impressive though. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

My Dad told me (correctly) he was going to destroy his right knee because of the violent hinging (whatever word you want to use) years ago. That's exactly why he has had attempted to change his swing many times.Â(05-06-2021, 08:30 AM)Blinky Wrote: Nicholas's major record would have been broken during his own lifetime, if Tiger didn't have a ten cent head. Tiger also created the competition that is out there today. The younger dudes on tour all grew up watching and rooting for Tiger. Some of those guys would have never played golf if not for Tiger. Jack never dealt with near the same competition as today. |
