ChinaBuckMilitary History Recommendations
#1
Since I canâ€t exactly pop into a bookstore (with English titles other than something about the Kardashianâ€s) I was wondering what online sites might any of you recommend to read military history? While I prefer US military history, to be honest Iâ€m open to about anything, be it Assyrian or Gallic or whatever. As you may have gathered it could be any timeframe.

Among others, Cincy and Stx are usually good sources on topics like this.  Seems Cincy disappeared again though.

I have access through a mostly good VPN. I enjoy an occasional You Tube video and should use that as a resource more. But I also kick it up old school and like to read.

Seeing the view of a conflict from both sides is always instructive.

We can definitely discount any "historian" who claims the war was just about slavery.

In order to obtain the most accurate information, search out authors out of Academia that are as Caucasian as they are gender non-binary.

China-can you download books from Amazon over there? If so I would recommend Retribution. It is about the Pacific conflict and the use of A bombs to end the war. A fasc inating read with great perspective.

Let's get real man, it was almost entirely about slavery and the economic advantages that slavery gave the southern farmers.

You had to be a slave state to join the confederacy.  You couldnâ€t be in the club otherwise.  States rights my azzz

Lol. Slavery was the not the only cause. But if you look at the social and economic arguments, slavery was by and far the primary cause of secession. The lost cause rewrite of history by the DOC is a perspective for sure, but easily defeated.

But to stay on topic, history.army.mil has a great collection of artifacts, essays and papers.
