Our highways around Phoenix are constantly being upgraded. They're just finishing a stretch I use right now. Water mains are being replaced all over town too. Most of this stuff is supposed to be funded at the state level or even further down the line. Maybe in older parts of the country there are bridges, dams, sewer systems, etc. that need to be replaced or upgraded but why isn't it being done by those responsible now?

In most states, Federal Aid Highway Program is generally the main source of funding for those projects. I can†t speak on Arizona. But, federal highway money was enough leverage to for d observance of MLK day several years ago. I think that was Arizona.

Me too but it was obviously more important to investigate him for being a Russian agent.
That had nothing to do with what he did first. Infrastructure was an easy win. He went for ACA. Then had felt taxes were a more pressing issue.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Getting rid of Obamacare (thanks John McCain!) and lowering the corporate tax were way more important than increasing government spending on, um, anything.

So. Instead of starting with a winnable issue, he chose an issue that was questionable.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The corporate tax change was yuge. Important and badly needed. The US has some poorly thought out and counterproductive tax policies. Corporate tax structure was among the worst.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Well, he won the tax issue. And he would have won the Obamacare repeal if John McCain wasn't a spiteful prick. Did he ever explain why he continually voted for a repeal, then switched his vote once Trump became President?

I can't stand Trump but I wouldn't oppose something he was for just because of that. And that was McCain. He opposed things just to oppose Trump. That's just small and petty. He became a pathetic little man.

McCain is only going to be remembered as the bitter old prick that scuttled the repealing of Obamacare. That's it. I hope it was worth it to him.
Edit: sorry, should have read the whole thread as my point was already covered.

Pretty sure McCain was against a repeal without replacement. He didnâ€t want to zap millions of their healthcare. But, Iâ€m sure there was personally conflict as part of it.

I think the republicans fumbled this badly in not having developed a better plan. Could there be a better one? I have no idea. The US massive spending on military to keep the world fairly safe falls on US taxpayer greatly.  Entitlement, military....at some point all this cannot be sustained by the US taxpayer along with selling T Bonds and Bills.

The Biden so called infrastructure plan will once again be filled with pork giveaways just as was the Covid bill. Some dems are referring to the “social infrastructure†which means pork giveaways to leftist favorites. When Biden first came out with this plan he said no one making under 400,000 a year would see a tax hike. That has changed to families making 400,000 or more. I suspect that will be lowered in the final bill. I donâ€t trust Joe Manchin to do the right thing.

This dipschitt has been and continues to say INDIVIDUALS who make over $400K. It's $400K for families or $200K per individual. He is lying about everything he says and no one is correcting him. This is starting to rub me the wrong way.

Coming from someone that actually works in the infrastructure industy, a "spending bill" is badly needed. I doubt many here actually understand the process a road/bridge project had to go through. Here in Ohio, ODOT actually has laid it out for the public: called the project development process, or PDP. Google it. It sucks by the way. Too much red tape and bullshit; the environmental enginerring process is theb1st step, where we (PEs) are required to study something, analyzing it to the 10th degree and have a public involvement meeting before we even start design... for most projects that is. waste of time, effort, and money. But its the law, so we have to do it.
Again, we need a bill. Roads and bridges need rebuilt. And after 20-30 years, they need rebuilt again. Costs to desogn and build keep gping up too. Something had to give at some point. ODOT is studying a usage tax ON TOP OF the gas tax. Soon you will see it hit imo.3
