Nice start to the season taking a series from the Cards. Bring on Pissburgh.
27 runs scored in 3 games. Nice.

I know it is a looooooong season and a 2-1 start means nothing, but it sure was nice to win a series against our primary rival and to look like a team who is capable of scoring a lot of runs doing so.
I especially liked some of the unknown pitchers who looked sharp as other than 1 bad inning by castillo the pitchers have performed well. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Hey Zig, correct me if Iâ€m wrong, but I recall a lot of Reds†season opening series just being 2 games.  Maybe they havenâ€t done that in ages, but thatâ€s how I always remembered them being.  Opening day, off day, and then a get-away game.

In other NL action, the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers opened defense of their crown at Colorado winning 3 out of 4 from the Rockies. Dodgers won 4-2 today behind a strong performance by Urias and a home run by Louisville native and former U of L star, catcher Will Smith. Dodgers move on to Oakland and a series with the A's.

Getting their shots?
Having some fans back at Great American Ball Park has been a welcomed bit of normalcy after the pandemic kept everybody out of the stands in 2020. Cardinals players were vaccinated last Tuesday in Cincinnati, and several members of the Reds were also vaccinated last week. Clubs were informed on Monday that MLB and the MLBPA have agreed to relax certain health and safety protocols contained in the 2021 Operations Manual for fully vaccinated Tier 1 Individuals and for clubs where 85 percent of their Tier 1 Individuals are fully vaccinated. As part of that memo, players and staff were again strongly encouraged to receive one of the approved COVID-19 vaccines when eligible. “I donâ€t know exactly where we are,†Bell said. “Weâ€re working through that. Itâ€s still very early in the process. Itâ€s a personal decision. Thereâ€s a lot of information thatâ€s being accumulated and [we] just try to, weâ€re in the early stages of the process. I donâ€t know how itâ€ll end up.â€

Tyler Stephenson, C, CIN (MLB No. 94)
As the Reds pounded the Cardinals, 12-1, Stephenson had his best offensive day as a big leaguer. The backstop tallied three hits for the first time in his 10 MLB games and first since Aug. 5, 2019 with Double-A Chattanooga. Following a swinging strikeout against St. Louis starter Carlos MartÃnez in the third inning, Cincinnatiâ€s No. 4 prospect reached on infield singles to second and short in the fifth and sixth innings, the latter driving in Stephensonâ€s first RBI of the season, before bouncing his third single of the day through the right side in the seventh.
