In AZ about 0.1% of the population has been killed by COVID 19 and the US fatalities are approaching that. That's usually about the case fatality rate estimated for the flu. Case fatality not based on the entire population. This is clearly at least 5 times as deadly as the flu and appears to cause more morbidity and long term effects as well. We're fortunate it isn't as bad as the info originally coming out of Wuhan. 
Since we are doing much better on hospitalization times and survival of hospitalized patients it's clearly even more important to keep cases within the capacity of the healthcare system. Untreated patients or those getting less than optimal care will die at higher rates. That would be unnecessary. For those of you with mental health and intelligence issues that think it's a hoax or something perhaps you could check the nearest hospital and see if they'll tell you what their census is like and what their concerns are. Reality is on a ventilator not in your tiny crazy little brains.

ITALIAN COURT JUST RULED HCQ CAN BE USED DATA TO PROVES IT IS SAFE AND EFFECTIVE

Di Castelnuovo and colleagues report the findings of the observational multicentre Italian CORIST Study on the use of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in hospitalised COVID-19 patients [1]. In this large, retrospective cohort of 3,451 COVID-19 inpatients from 33 clinical centers, the use of HCQ was associated with a significant increase in survival. Specifically, the Authors reported an in-hospital death rate of 8.9 per 1,000 person-day for patients receiving HCQ, and of 15.7 for patients not receiving HCQ. Using an inverse probability weighting approach for propensity matching, and adjusting for various possible confounders, the Authors report a 30% reduction in the mortality risk in patients receiving HCQ.

The effects of Covid on the old and compromised are brutal.  No question.  I just believe most people have an issue with a lot of these draconian measures when a targeted approach would have been a much better option.  When you start threatening to shutter businesses AGAIN, it feeds into conspiracy theories.  When you go back and forth on masks, if kids should go to school or stay home, etc, etc, etc...  it definitely doesn't inspire confidence that many of those in charge are even really addressing the actual situation at hand or if, well, they're up to something else   

It didn't take long into the process to see whom the virus was targeting for destruction.  As a nation we should have simply focused our efforts in protecting those people, but whenever Trump would mention that you can't just keep shutting everything down?  He's Hitler.  Rinse.  Repeat.

Well actually if all the toddlers out there would just take a few precautionary measures instead of stamping their feet and acting like babies governments wouldn't panic when hospitals fill. And they fill with younger people many of whom will die without adequate care. I'm no fan of shutdowns. But distancing , limiting interactions/crowds, and masking should have been enough. But no I'm not gonna do that. So now I'm going to cry because cases are high enough to panic the healthcare system and government and we're getting shut down. Make up your mind which is worse.

Another example. Just don't cry about shut downs if you aren't willing to do any minimal things to help mitigate the situation. Just sit at home and shut up. Go online and commiserate with the other loonies. BTW you wear the mask mainly to protect others as has been repeated a bazillion times to the morons. So those mask wearers were likely infected by the anti mask clowns and mentally ill nuts you see having breakdowns in public around the country. And no not 99%.
