Texas TEXIT: Let me out of here!!!!!!!
#1
A Texas state lawmaker says he plans to introduce a referendum pushing for the state to secede from the U.S.

“The federal government is out of control and does not represent the values of Texans. That is why I am committing to file legislation this session that will allow a referendum to give Texans a vote for the State of Texas to reassert its status as an independent nation,” Rep. Kyle Biedermann, R-Fredricksburg, said in a statement.

The state legislature does not resume session until January, but Biedermann said his bill will rely on Article 1 Section 2 of the Texas Constitution which reads: “All political power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their benefit."

"The faith of the people of Texas stands pledged to the preservation of a republican form of government, and, subject to this limitation only, they have at all times the inalienable right to alter, reform or abolish their government in such manner as they may think expedient.”

Groups, such as the Texas Nationalists Movement, have long supported efforts to secede, and the 87th Texas Legislature has seen hundreds of such motions presented to them in the past.

Texas has left the union once before. After becoming a state in 1845, the Lone Star State seceded from the United States and joined the Confederate States of America in 1861. After the Civil War and Reconstruction, Texas was fully readmitted into the Union in 1870.

California was talking about this (well, some groups were) a few years ago.  I'd love for Cali to leave and simply be a trading partner.  That way there's no talk of a bail out.  They made their bed.

Right now our federal govt/deep state is out of control.  If it wasn't these situations wouldn't even be happening.

Texas has always had a strong independent streak anyway.  I can definitely see where some of these people are coming from.   That said, working to change things is definitely the preferable route as opposed to simply leaving.  Flex more of your muscle as a state.  In fact I wish all states did that.

Yeah they would keep their money and Washington would never see it and take their cut.

Just a political sideshow. Is this just because Trump lost? If he had won, would Texas still be happy to be part of the USA?

And if they did succeed, they could easily be attacked by the US or Mexico and their independence would be lost before they ever got to use it.

How about spend time working to improve America, and get over the fact that we lost a close election.

I get so tired of the losers of the elections throwing tantrums and acting like PSU fans after every loss. Its not that big of a stretch to believe Trump lost. He was deeply unpopular and an ass. COVID just sealed the deal and sunk him. Crappy timing. But it happens.

I wish that my State would go rogue. We don't have many resources, but we are an industrious people. We would figure it out.

For those capable of comprehending, here is how Texas is trending by the numbers thanks to Mexican immigration and liberals moving there.  I think by 2028 Texas will likely vote for a Democrat for President.

Presidential Election
2000 -  GOP won 60% of the vote
2012 -  GOP won 57% of the vote
2016 -  GOP won 53% of the vote
2020 -  GOP won 52% of the vote

Iâ€ve stated publicly that when I see secede bumper stickers on trucks. I have the urge to walk up to the owner and shoot them dead on the spot. Traitors should die. Whatâ€s ironic. After that statement, I can still buy a firearm.

Unlike the left, many of us on the right continue to believe in "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".  The left has already, ideologically speaking, seded from that principle.

So you want to punish the people who desire to have liberty, even if it can only be obtained by secession, instead of the Bolsheviks who are taking this country toward Orwellian totalitarianism?  Makes sense.

Secession is treason. Treason is treason unless you win.
