Poll: Best Rusty and Audrey Griswold Combo

It's getting to be that time of year where we all fire up Christmas Vacation for the 20 billionth time. One of the running gags in the vacation series is to switch up the actors and actresses that play the Griswold children. Which one was your favorite? Least favorite? Here is a brief rundown of each. 



Left to right: Summer Vacation, Euro Vacation, Christmas Vacation, Vegas Vacation. 

This collage excludes the 2015 reboot, where they were adults.

For the sake of completion, I will include the "other" Rusty and Audrey from the land of obscurity. There was a super bowl commercial mini series that had a Rusty, but no Audry, and there was a straight to DVD "Christmas Vacation 2" that had an Audrey but no Rusty. So I will pair those to up for the purpose of voting. 

For Audrey they actually brought back the original Audrey as an adult. (on the right)

Thoughts

Summer Vacation: Anthony Michael Hall and Dana Barron
They were the originals. They had chemistry, they were funny, and set the tone for the series.

European Vacation: Jason Lively and Dana Hall
They were fat, ugly and annoying. But they "looked" the most like the original actor and actress.

Christmas Vacation: Jon Galecki and Juliette Lewis
This combo had the most "star power" as both went onto be quite successful. But other than that they were pretty off. Their ages were swapped, and Audrey was a blonde all of a sudden.

Vegas Vacation: Ethan Embry and Marisol Nichols
Vastly underrated film here. They were both pretty funny, and it was clearly the hottest Audrey of the original run.

Hotel Hell/Christmas Vacation 2: Travis Greer/Dana Barron
Not sure why anyone would pick this one unless they 1)love the original Audrey, and 2) hate the original Rusty.

Vacation 2015: Ed Helms and Leslie Mann
Love it or hate it, it was interesting to see how they turned out as adults.

Dana Hill was a diabetic that ended up costing her life at age 32.
She was an athlete. Placed 3rd nationally in the 800 run and 4th in the mile.
The diabetes resulted in stunting her growth.

Far and away their greatest recasting effort was Cousin Vicki in Vegas Vacation. For a while I actually thought it was the same chick. But it isn't.

Plus 3G was pretty funny in his cameo in Vegas Vacation.

I've only seen the original and Christmas Vacation.  Always thought CV was a classic.  

Within the last few years I've seen a handful of interviews from folk in the entertainment biz that pretty much flat out tell you that Chevy Chase was a miserable POS of a human being.  At least in his younger years anyway.
