Page is in 3A North, along with Tuba City, Monument Valley, Chinle, Window Rock and Ganado.

Fredonia and El Capitan are in 8-man 1A North, along with Mogallon, Joseph City, Williams and Mayer.

Beaver Dam HS (AZ) is in in Nevada 1A South, along with GV Christian, Mountain View Christian, Indian Springs, and Spring Mountain.

The only games that I have attended this year are Utah 4A Region 9, which is the 6 St George area HSs, along with the 2 in Cedar City.
Mayer was actually the only one I could think of thatâ€s central. West of Page lol? Do 8 people even live in AZ west of Page? Joking but theres hardly anything west of Page.

Well again, I'm in St George, so I haven't really made it too far east or south of Page yet. Lol.

The strip is nice and scenic. Not very many folks per square foot, that's true. But you have the North Rim, Lake Powell, Vermillion Cliffs, Kaibab National Forest, Lake Mead, etc. Instead of 8 people, there are actually 8 towns (and a Piute Rez).  But yeah, Page is the best thing that they have going, and it is technically not even on the strip. It's not on the Navajo Rez either, it just sort of bridges the gap.
Oh I've been there. I've fished Lee's Ferry many a time. I remember staying under the Vermillion Cliffs and at night so dark you didn't know they were there. Then a thunderstorm rolled in and the lightning would light them up for a second, it was spectacular. There's like zero people per square mile in the strip. Is there a high school in there anywhere? I guess I haven't even seen the towns. Aside Page and Marble Canyon. Marble Canyon/Lee's Ferry isn't really a town I don't think. I've been to Mesquite. I haven't been to those border polygamist towns.

That's awesome, I had a Lake Powell excursion myself a few weeks back. You could actually see into the disc of the Milkey Way, which was spectacular.

Yes, as I said there are three HSs on the strip; one in Beaver Dam, one in Fredonia, and one in Colorado City.

-Fredonia is basically a southern extension of Kanab Utah. Their HS also serves the Kaibab Piute Rez, along with Cane Beds, which is a town full of Bundy rancher types. The guy that got gunned down by the FBI in Oregon was from Cane Beds.

-Beaver Dam is on I-15 between Mesquite and St George. Their HS has three other towns within it's boundaries; Scenic, Littlefield and Desert Springs. Scenic is basically an eastern extension of Mesquite, while Beaver Dam, Littlefield and Desert Springs form a three town cluster. I'm not sure what inspires them to be three towns instead of one, but they are.

-El Capitan HS is in Colorado City, and also educates Centennial Park. Those are the two "Plyg Towns." Colorado City is a southern extension of Hildale Utah, which is of course another "Plyg Town," and Centennial Park is a southern extension of Colorado City. The C-Parkers are the most "normal" out of that area, you'd be hard pressed to identify them as "Plygs" if you just saw them at Walmart or whatever.

Beaver Dam is completely cut off from the rest of the state. In order to get anywhere else in AZ from there you have to take I-15 either into Nevada or Utah, and then catch another Highway back into Arizona. Technically there is a dirt road that connects Scenic with Centennial Park, but it is not for the faint of heart.

St George may someday spill over onto the strip, but right now the border is just sort of comically where civilization comes to a screeching halt. The only thing through that part of the strip is the aforementioned dirt road that connects Scenic with C-Park. There are also some North/South dirt roads that take you down to the north rim; one running from St George, and the other from C-Park. The one from C-Park takes you to an overlook for the most insane portion of rapids in the grand canyon, but if you are going to drive it I would suggest a rental as the bull dust will eff up your engine.

I don't go much of anywhere I can't fish or watch OU play. I even fished on safari. So I'm not likely to go through there unless it's on the way to some fly fishing. The feds really screwed up Lee's Ferry (it's what they do) so I haven't been up there in a few years. I'm a big fan of Navajo and Hopi arts and crafts so it's often a pricey drive for me anyway.

I mean I guess you could cast into the Colorado River from atop the Grand Canyon, if you had enough fishing line.  Big Grin

There are places to fish actually in some of the creeks that go into the Colorado. Bright Angel and Tapeats Creeks. I've never gone down there to fish those but apparently there are some trout to be had. I might ask one of the guide services about that. Thanks for making me think of it. I have to find the pic of the Cutbow I caught at Lee's Ferry. Prettiest fish I've ever caught.

Yeah, Lee's Ferry was cool.

Best fishing I've found around here was at the aptly named Fish Lake in Central Utah. Speckled Trout, Lake Trout and Splake out the yin yang. About 8500 ft elevation though, so it's probably frozen over by now.

What were you doing in Mesquite? You just wanted the casino experience, minus the hookers?

Just Passin' through. Going to St. George to buy a car. Long time ago. 80s. Used to be more dealers and better deals than Vegas.
Why doesn't Mesquite have hookers? It's in Nevada.

Right on. I moved here in the 80s, and I have pretty much been living here ever since. Unless of course you count that 30 year stint in Ohio, lol.

A hooker in Mesquite isn't completely unheard of, but you aren't just fighting them off with a stick like in Vegas. Now maybe if you are some big baller that is flashing money and throwing it around, then they might emerge forth from the woodwork. But they rarely just wander up to random single guys and preposition them like on the Vegas strip.

Of course it is illegal there since it is in the same county as Vegas, and there are no shortage of legal brothels to the North. So it's not exactly a magnet for those who are in the market for such things.
