We had chances against LSU but didn't finish. I forget if it was Austin Spitler, but someone had a clear path to their punter. The guy laid out and was in the punter's lap. Perfect form. It wasn't a matter of if it would be blocked, but where the ball would end up getting scooped and scored. Somehow, some way, that ball didn't get blocked. I haven't seen video of it since the night of that game, but one of my buddies and I often bring up the football shaped hole that must have been in Spitler's body to allow that ball to actually get punted. I still don't how it was possible that that punt was not blocked. Â

It's actually 06, I was at the 07 game. I know it was 06 the thread started because the 97 game was on espn classic then we jumped back to the 06 game.
Iremember you and i had a bet on one of the OSU scUM games and the loser had to wear a sig line of the others choice. I think I had you have "OSU is ichigans daddy" or something stupid like that

Ohio State beat the second ranked team twice that year (Texas).  Where was the motivation for their third game against a number two team?Â
Just another reason to despise Michigan. WHen they talk to former players all they say is that game was everything. Emotionally they could not get up for another game
Man, that would be like if the 14 team just threw in the towel after beating Bama. No where near the same. This was a storied rivalry. First time both teams were playing when both were undefeated. Number 1 vs number 2 and legendary coach in this rivalry dies 2 days before the game.  Those were the highest stakes.   Sadly they could not get up again it was like The Game was Mission Accomplished.
Oh yeah, lightyears apart. Lol.Â
It would also be like if the 02 team just mailed it in after winning a nail biter in THE GAME Again big difference. The year before we got the monkey off our back. We did win a nail biter and we went into the NC game as a 12-14 point underdog. We were given nothing but national disrespect by a media who wanted USC in the nc game. We had something to prove and that was the gas in our tank.

Basically I think it all added up to the beat down in the desert. You factor in the other side that was more or less disrespected/overlooked during the month leading up to the game and you KNOW Urban had those guys so beyond jacked that it wasn't even funny. 'twas the perfect storm. Agree on all points
