Bucktastic1Happy Thanksgiving
#16
Wife and I are polar opposites in a lot of ways.  For one, I'm much better looking. Yeah.   Anyway, besides the obvious she is the Covid conscience one.  So while I was all about having a traditional Thanksgiving and having a super spreader event.  I mean, because that's how I roll being the contrarian azz I am, etc... I admit it, but I is who I is.  Ok, moving on...

Ok, now to the turkey and potatoes of my point.  My wife came up with the idea of cooking Thanksgiving dinner for our relatives that are the least likely to travel and gather at a place like mine due to being in a high risk group.  So that's what she's doing right now, and I will be delivering to my dad and she will be delivering to her side of the family.  They live in opposite directions, otherwise I would be the total delivery boy.

Anyway, that's our plans for today.  I mean, after I spend too much time on here, of course, and then eat at a level that would give Joey Chesnut a run for his money.

Y'all have a great Thanksgiving.   Cool

We have 3.5 today. Having a high school senior only counts for a half. Could be one and a half if his GF comes over. Still cooking for 14. Just means more leftovers.

Just my wife and I today. Will be having turkey dinner with her daughter and family tomorrow(she is at her in-laws today), my daughter in SC is on call and my son in CO has cooking duties for his family. Not going to bitch about anything, just thankful for what I have.

What was the worst TG dinner that you ever had?

Well I'm begging off invites. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I'm going to have to mend some fences after the holidays. But I'm high risk and everyone is having their elderly relatives over. Don't think I could live with it if I ended up being a spreader. I am going to get a couple of plates though and some home made peach pie.

Couldnâ€t get home for the holiday from south Florida. Ended up eating it at a Dennyâ€s or something.

No longer GroupThink 'woke'.  but it was fun while it lasted.

Back in residency it was a hospital cafeteria one time. Public hospital. And yes the food was different between private and public hospitals, very different. But it was free. Nearly inedible but free.
I've always liked Denny's.

Apparently, America runs on Dunkin-stuffed turkey this year.

Answering the rhetorical question -- “What will they think of next?” -- is the newest trending holiday feast: the TurDunkinâ€, a recipe involving turkey, doughnut holes and sprinkles from the innovative minds of students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The almost too-Boston recipe – that is not to be confused with the turducken – actually debuted on Unwholesome Foods blog in May 2010. However, as Thanksgiving around the country looks different this year due to the pandemic, the atypical turkey option has (somewhat fittingly) found new interest on the internet after Boston Magazine posted an article about it.

According to one of the recipe creators, Beth Baniszewski, the saccharine take on a Thanksgiving dinner wasnâ€t bad.

“Pretty good! Sweet and sour in the right way,” she told Boston Magazine. “In retrospect, we should have gone with a traditional red-eye gravy. You live, you learn.” The recipe uses a coffee gravy that was described as “burnt” tasting.

Though the founders of the poultry dish seemed on board with their creation, not all are interested in gobbling it up.

There were a handful of hungry parties, though.
