What am I missing here?  3 good looking women with the word Zimbabwe on their sash.  What am I not seeing that some seem to be assuming is racist in nature?

I don't know how many of you have driven a tractor to till the soil or have tended to a herd of cattle, but farming is hard unrelenting work in which even the most dedicated can fail as the margins are low and the risk is high. Having a farm also requires a significant initial investment in machinery, livestock, storage, water management and an internal road system within your farming area. You also need to be able to have sufficient operating capital in place to cover vagaries in the demand/supply market, regulatory requirements, and, of course, the weather. You have to be educated in accordance with the good standard practices for the type of farming you choose to do. This is nothing like calling up Mr. Haney, your county extension officer, and learning on the fly all you need to do.

Farming is not for the faint of heart. I seriously doubt anyone "given" a farm like this would be successful no matter their race. Frankly, I seriously doubt anyone on this board could operate a farm given the conditions noted in the bill. It may look good in theory but clearly will cause most people to fail. And badly. This is classic liberal economics - set up people to fail.

Strange, I was thinking about the same thing last night while watching tv. It's one thing to "give" them land, it's quite another to make that land into a crop growing farm. Like you mentioned about the investment, if they don't have it other than the land this will be a failed program. You never know what those crazy dems will do, but just giving land away does not equal a farm. If congress is somewhat sensible, this bill would fail.
