..will be relieving all college students of up to $50k of their student loan debt. Did he campaign on this? Can he actually do this? This is outrageous and those who paid their way, paid off their loans already, or didn't even waste their time going to college should be hugely pissed off. This is a payoff for idiots who went out and got useless degrees.Â
Of course, this assumes he actually becomes President.

Of course, this assumes he actually becomes President. The scariest thing about this is that they are doing nothing to address the root cause of the issue. There are no plans to limit administrative expenditures, use endowment to pay debt, and limit the massive spikes in tuition. Â
A very dumb and very dangerous policy that only benefits a portion of society.

How far back will that go? I still have 11k left on my masters. Was thinking on paying it off by '22.

I listened to his 'speech' yesterday and he was asked about this, and mentioned $10k....
Regardless, this is a bad idea. Rewarding those that are loose with their planning and punishing those who do plan.

Hey if I am a student, hell yeah they got my vote. When I was young I was on the lib side and then I grew up. The real issue is what the increased debt will do to the country. No one will care. We do need to get the debt total for once Trump leaves office.

There is a higher issue here. How many people have paid the debt they ran up for education through hard work and frugal living (doing without the new cars and extravagant vacations and on and on). Everyone is capable of paying their debt. That has been proven through the last hundred years.  Many choose not to. Their bad choices should not be my responsibility to make right. This will cause many, many more people be pissed off than it makes happy. This is exactly the kind of major mistake that will divide the people further and they better understand that the dems will be just as pissed off (getting screwed is a universal major irritation). Really, really stupid thinking taking over the country.

Outside of the kids with debt, you know who will really love this... the universities. Heck, let's raise tuition again too! Why not, the govt will pay us off. Â
When money gets more and more detached from reality, it becomes more and more worthless. Obviously. Eventually the schools will be paid back with Monopoly money. Of course the shape that takes will probably be free college (unless you're a taxpayer, of course). Â
I suspect there's a bigger play here with this tidal wave of free stuff. I see it as an attack on the dollar. Start looking to where the big time players are putting their money. Look for a mass exodus of capital over time if this mumbling nitwit actually takes office.

This is what the college loan programs were all about from the inception. The entire scheme was a taxpayer funded redistribution of wealth to academia, a significant part of our elitist ruling class. The money those people make is obscene and mostly provided by us.
