We Have a Vaccine UPDATE: POLL ADDED NOW!!
(12-21-2020, 05:54 PM)3rdgensooner Wrote: Sounds like it's just more infectious. They usually don't mutate into anything more dangerous because that wouldn't make sense. The virus dies with the host so those mutations wouldn't be as likely to spread. It hasn't been in an environment with the vaccines so it isn't likely to mutate in a way that makes them ineffective. So it's likely just going to spread faster and easier. But that's been hypothesized before with other mutations when we had the surge this summer.
Thank You for your response. Merry christmas

Merry Christmas to you and yours too.
One other thing is those mRNA vaccines can be re engineered quickly. So if that spike protein mutates in a way to decrease the vaccine's effectiveness they can mimic that. They literally designed that spike protein in a day. This is a very cool technology. They should be handing out Nobel Prizes like candy to the scientists involved over the next few years.

The guy wasn't "Chief Scientist of Pfizer" although he worked there years ago. He's currently a nut and a crank. Of course you don't give vaccines that haven't been extensively tested in people. Doesn't that idiot read? There are huge studies in people. I'm in one.
This is probably why he's been unemployed so long.

Saying you don't vaccinate people who aren't at risk from a disease is a pretty silly statement. You achieve herd immunity by vaccinating everyone, thus protecting everyone. This means that people who have autoimmune diseases or are immunocompromised and can't get vaccines (such as cancer patients receiving some chemo treatments) still have significant protection from the disease due to the lack of people able to transmit it to them in their immediate vicinity.

It would suck to be on chemo fighting cancer and then die because someone they knew didn't get a covid vaccine and passed it onto them.

I have an autoimmune disorder. It sucks. But thatâ€s just life you know. I just have to be careful. Itâ€s very frustrating for me to read the tin foil hat stuff. This virus is real, itâ€s not seriously deadly (comparatively speaking) but highly infectious, thus, is “death by a thousand cuts” within a society.

Look man, why does everyone have to take my disgust with world wide lock downs and confuse it with me saying that covid doesn't exist or isn't somewhat serious, I will just never believe that it is worthy of what we've done as a society.

I do hope that people do not die from it, but what are we supposed to do? We can't go on like this forever.

You can't fix stupid and crazy has to want to get help. The post was blindingly stupid from someone who used to be a scientist. Silly is a good word. The entire thing didn't make any sense at all or was just flat wrong. He stated it was over in the UK. News to everyone else.

Do you have any ability at all to think logically? You can't tell you make as much sense as a schizophrenic on the street corner? You are correct we can't go on like this forever. So what do you do? Post nonsensical idiocy that is antivaccine which is what will end the situation. Stupid doesn't even come close to describing what you post on here. Ignorant doesn't come close. We need a new word for it actually.

Yeah, I kind of liken it to a medical platform rather than a specific procedure or treatment. This is a really neat innovation.

There are two big issues with it but nothing is ever perfect. One is how fragile mRNA is so the storage is a pain. Two is how people react to it. Initially they couldn't use it at all because of the inflammation. But a scientist came up with a modification that solved that without making it less usable otherwise.
I linked an article about the development earlier in the thread. If you haven't read it and have time it's very interesting.

Dude, I've been to Ohio 3 times and Maine once since March.  Noone is staying in their home.

I suppose you believe the story that there are metallic particles in the vaccine so that people will be used as human antennas for the 5G network?
No I don't buy that, but I do believe that the scamdemic is the worst fraud ever perpetrated on mankind.

Anyone who goes along with it is complicit.

I am very leery about the timing of the release of info on the new strain in the UK and Biden then telling us our darkest days are still ahead of us and not behind us.  All this right on the heels of the great vaccine news.   Dodgy

To say that there's a segment in our governmental power structure that wants perpetual lock-downs and, hence, dependency on govt "relief" appears to be an understatement.

Lots of nuance involving the response to Covid, and not many people seeing it.  Most people seem to be picking a side.  So I guess the real question is:  which side is trying to capitalize on this crisis?  I think the answer is obvious, but I'm betting the other side thinks so too---yet we're not in agreement on which side it is.

None taken, I think that closing up businesses over a disease that 99% of people survive is moronic.
