I went to the Iron Maiden show in Columbus a couple weeks ago. They still put on a great show.
Also went to the Hu/Megadeth/Five Finger Death Punch show. The Hu were awesome. Highly recommended. They also seemed legitimately enthused to be touring and into their show and crowd. Megadeth was good but pretty one note. You can tell they are running out of steam in their older age. FFDP was also very good assuming you donâ€t mind the excessive use of expletives which I know some do. They had a veteran dedication and some other pro US stuff which is refreshing to see nowadays.

I saw Disturbed in August at the State Fair. We had a horrible rainstorm earlier in the day and it rained the entire time they performed. But the show was still great. Nothing flashy, just them and their music. Luckily, our seats were underneath the pavilion, so we were dry the whole time. Played a lot of their older stuff, which was fun. The encores were The Light and Down with the Sickness (of course). Chevelle opened for them. They were disappointing.
I also saw Shinedown on a Tuesday night in early September. Totally different experience than Disturbed. Big light shows, pyrotechnics, videos. But it was a ton of fun. During Devil, the stage was bathed in red light (hmm, where have we seen that before?). The band remarked a couple of times as to how rowdy the crowd was, given that it was a Tuesday. At one point, they even said that they were concerned about playing on a Tuesday, but they felt better once they saw the show was sold out. One of them mentioned that this was the fifth time they played this arena and it was by far the most fun they had. I am sure there was some playing to the crowd there, but I was in the arena in 2019 on a Saturday night for their show and they didn't say anything like that. I wonder if maybe they appreciate being on stage again, since they weren't able to tour for awhile. It may be fun for them again, rather than just a grind. They also played a lot of their older stuff and they finished with an absolutely blow the doors off the arena version of Sound of Madness. It was a great way to end.
Two totally different experiences, but both definitely worth the money.

Two totally different experiences, but both definitely worth the money. I may have mentioned this before in this thread, but I†ll second your opinion on Chevelle. One of the worst live rock bands I†ve seen. Probably the worst of the “mainstream†bands I†ve seen. Our Lady Peace is their only competitor for that bad award in my experience.
I saw Shinedown right after their first album came out. They were awesome back then. Good to hear they are still putting together a good show. I need to go see them again.

I know several people who was at the Iron Maiden show who all echoed your same thoughts on their performance.

We were invited to see The Black Crowes at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. We had other plans and could not meet up. We have been to the Stone Pony several times. It's a legendary place - at least it used to be.
Kansas was just at a local casino and I couldn't find the need to go. Chicago and Grand Funk Railroad were skipped too. The days of Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra are over, and so is my interest in music. It's a good thing to be able to walk away. I found this out when we saw the Rolling Stones last year. At least Lenny Kravitz (canceled) would have been worth the flight and coin.
Note: I think it's great others can still enjoy music. It's just a ship that has sailed for me.
The America, and the American Military, that you once knew is gone.

Lenny put on an awesome show but the stadium was only like 10% full, and Lenny was like “What the hell is up with you people Stones put on a great show, but you could tell, even back then, that 85% of the crowd on cared about them.

I'm going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd tonight. It will be the 4th time I've seen my 2nd favorite contemporary musician live. I think Kenny is the best guitarist out there right now in the blues blues/rock genre. He's a BEAST.

If you like kick ass, blues influenced rock guitar Gods, this summer's Serpent Blues Festival, headlined by the legendary Slash, is a must see. Literally 7 of the 10 listed headliners (Slash, Warren Haynes, Larkin Poe, Eric Gales, Kingfish Ingram, Robert Randolph, and of course, my girl Samantha Fish) are on my "must see" list. I've already seen Slash, Randolph, and SF. Anyway, the only catch is not all supporting artists will be at all the shows. I'll have to see who is coming to Interlochen, MI and possibly make the 3.5 drive to see it.
