Have you done a Zoom call or at least a similar concept? People drop in and out throughout the conference.  Someone is always grunting/coughing/sneezing/etc. and forgets to mute their mic/feed. Really annoying.

When we were quarantined at home, I set up a regular location in the Dining room as my workstation and also for online meetings. It had a plain background of the beige wallcovering behind me. I didn't want any distractions seen or heard during online discussions. Now the dogs yipped a couple of times during the many meetings online and once the MIL got on her phone (she's older so she and her blue haired friends set their phones on speaker full volume and they pretty much yell at each other) not knowing I was listening to a presentation and forgot to turn on mute.

So, if you are serious about your kids education, a parent should do the same, find a place where you can limit distractions. Kids are easily distracted and teachers are easily triggered, so keep your guns, political banners, and old playboy mags out of the picture. The issue is about education, it is not about you being actively engaged in displaying your lifestyle or a Constitutional rights moment.

Now that said, if you have to pan your camera around as part of the class assignment and the class sees 93 year old Grandma sitting naked on her Spike Cohen fairy princess pony cleaning her S&W .357 Magnum Pistol, well, hey, stuff happens.
