Very nice set of wheels on those bikes.
I love bikes with all sizes of tires on them.

Great work Beast. Itâ€s tough to stay in the saddle that long. And then you think of those guys in the Tour deFrance. Ridiculous.

2021 version was completed yesterday. Started at 5:45 in Ann Arbor, MI, ended just after 9 pm in South Haven, MI. 155 miles traversed, plus or minus. I reached the halfway point (Marshall, MI) at around 11:45 am. You can do the math to see how the second half went lol. But I made it. 87 deg heat in Kalamazoo was lots of fun.
My butt REALLY hurts. My head is throbbing. And while you'd think I would have gotten great sleep, I really didn't. Other than that, I feel outstanding! I think I took in around 2 gallons of water/Gatorade yesterday.

BD, congrats, youâ€re a far better man than me. By the way, remember in TTUN you are not allowed to drink red Gatorade according to Harbaugh.

You must have a mighty comfortable seat. I'm whipped after an hour twice a week on my bike and thats about the time my backside starts hurting and my left leg starts going numb. Can't imagine 155 miles within a couple days, impressive. That's Tour deFrance stuff there.

Congrats. No way I would do that now.
Mind over body.

I enjoy northern Michigan a lot, UP included, in summer. I'm past the biking era.
I'm against all over generalizations.

I'm getting used to using the IC4. 35 miles every morning 0500. I swim in the evening to avoid being in the direct sun. It doesn't feel like I worked out but I know I am.
Beast, make sure to start hydrating a week before you do these long trips. It makes a major difference.

For at least one day of my life, I hung with Michael Phelps in terms of calories burned exercising lol.

I might be able to ride again by tomorrow.

Well, I completed my 2022 biking challenge on Saturday, a century ride (100 miles, duh) through Hell, Michigan (which actually exists lol). It was billed as OneHelluvaRide. My trip through Hell was easy, as this was about 1/5 of the way through the ride. In fact, I was looking pretty strong, averaging about 18 MPH, up through about 55 miles. And then I hit the proverbial wall. I ended up averaging a bit under my goal of 17 MPH. I also experienced the most painful cramps of my entire life, I still have pain in my calves and quads 48 hours later. At the 2nd rest stop they offered us this nasty pickle juice, which I declined because, well, it's nasty.
Then my biking partner, who drank the crap, and didn't ceamp up, sent me this today. https://www.healthline.com/health/pickle...for-cramps Anyone ever heard of drinking pickle juice to prevent leg cramps? |
