Greece is really nice. I havenâ€t been in a few years but I looked into living there. Everyone thinks of the Aegean(Mediterranean) island life but up north they have mountains with skiing. Besides the beautiful beaches, clear water and seafood galore. Itâ€s relatively cheap away from Athens and other tourist hot spots. Free healthcare for all, some modern amenities and mostly friendly people. If you have a couple hundred grand to invest, theyâ€ll let you stay for 5 years. Otherwise itâ€s just months and then you have to leave. Unless you find a sympathetic Greek that will employ you, that is.

What I am seeing from my basic research is the really desirable areas where English is spoken such as Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, etc. would be great areas to go but the primary issue is establishing long term residency. You have to make substantial required investments, far beyond what most people can afford.
As for me, the best countries to consider, should it come to that, are Chili, Malta, Portugal and the Azores, Iceland and Gibraltar. My requirements for relocation are race demographics which determines safety, and reasonably affordable. I do not want third world living. I can have that in the USA. Not saying I haven't overlooked other good places, but those are where I am right now.
