Let me ask this another way

Is the pandemic the most significant event to strike the U.S. since the second world war?  I think so.  How we as a nation responded to the pandemic is certainly debatable.  What isn't debatable is the catastrophe that has and continue to ensue.

This in MY OPINION is not as great as the terror threat which was built in 9/11 and caused the US to spend BILLIONS and go into other nations and so forth in war and calamity.   The % of deaths when it's finished concerning those impacted will be less than 1/2 of one percent.  I think there was an overreaction and massive misuse of money.  Should there be caution as this is contagious and kills 1000s?  Absolutely.  It kills those who are older with infirmities and we have to protect them no doubt.

Probably so. I'd also say when the planes hit the World Trade Center too. It cost major money for the Dept of Homeland Security, airlines, economy and totally revamped the way we live and do things now.

No. There are others.

The China Flu might not have been so bad had we not allowed "experts" and the media to manage it.

You make some good points.  The September 11 attacks were damaging in many ways and we remain in Afghanistan nearly 20 years later.

I am 50/50 with Zig and UNC4corners. This Covid-19 is going to linger for several years until vaccination/virus heal pill is available. This will change our social life. Let's hope it is temporary.

Let's all remember that 30K to 60K die from the common flu every year. We have had vaccination for 20+ years.

I am flying from MSP to Atlanta to see my daughter and grandkids on Memorial Day. They excluded the middle seat. I had booked a flight for mid April but Delta cancelled the flight due to lack of passengers.

Yup. Nobody wanted to be 'that guy' who got it wrong, but ended up joining all the others in getting it wrong. The result? Orwellian acting governors. Dumb asses in Michigan allowing their governor to tell them they can't buy seeds. Those pu$$ies don't deserved freedom. Let them rot nobody would notice anyway. This goes for all asshats who sit inside collecting tp and watching charmed reruns.

America is not worth saving.
DC is a symptom, not the cause. The cause is basic voter stupidity and economic ignorance.

If it is, we made it so.

Nobody wants to admit getting it wrong either, so they continue the stupidity. Just heard a dude talking about economies recovering. He mentioned the US will most likely take 10 years to get to pre-covid=19 economy.

The only way that happens is if the vaccine doesn't work and we continue in this stupidity OR if  medicine to aid isn't effective or not found.

I said at the beginning Trump had a gun to his head and had no choice but to act based on the "experts".
