My GUESS is Jessie wanted to play a prank somehow for attention and got his friends to set this up.  They would not have broken a law, just doing a kind of prank for a friend, bought the cord, and went through the "play", not knowing what was about to happen.

At this point, Jessie is in trouble for making a false report and the CPD won't be able to let it die quietly.

I hope your words " a prank" is just a poor choice of words.  If what is happening is true (and I reserve final judgement for more facts) it would not be a prank.   Unless of course we have 2 different meanings of a prank, to me a prank is a joke intended to embarrass someone and or make someone laugh in good natured fun.  This person went to the police (prank ends there)  and the media saying he was assaulted and described a hate crime.  He went on air targeting a specific population with the intent of vilifying

Once the CPD starts playing hardball with the dude he will then - by advice of his lawyer - claim the other two are lying.

The lawyers will try to talk to each other to try to not sell each other out but if the police have enough hard evidence that have the brothers in the vicinity and with the alleged weapon then their lawyer if worth a darn would have them turn on Jessie.  

Then again it is liberal Chicago and hey somehow they would raid the home of a Trump associate over this.

The whole thing is strange. Even if they had video of two guys buying a rope, so what? Why did they suspect that it was the same rope?

Not sure if serious but I will play.  The 2 were identified as being in the area of where a man was beaten and while beating him yelling racial and homophobic slurs which qualifies for a hate crime.  Along with placing them there it is noted they bought the exact same rope that was around his neck.  So you have them in the area and with the same rope used for a noose which you were noted to have bought that day?   I would say they could be convicted?

Anyhow noticed how they agreed to cooperate??  Again they could be lying and committed those acts but are framng Jussie but either way it appears the perps were not typical Trump supporters as the case was made!!!

How did they know that it was the "same rope"? There were probably hundreds of ropes sold in Chicago that day. It's a huge city. Was it an unusual color? Or was it just that having ties to the guy along with purchasing a rope and being in the area enough evidence to bring them in?

They have the actual rope wich was around dudes neck.  They searched the video of the store where the 2 nigerians purchased the exact same rope.  Likely the same thickness.  Couple that with them being the other people Jussie would have passed (so far the only people he would have passed) on his way home from Subway.  Again with that said it appears they were going to be charged then they admitted something.
