Stevie did give the artist the right to release the song himself with his new band which he did a few months after but it did not chart. Actually I'm not sure if it was released as a single or just on their album.
Who was the artist, the song, and his new band?
By the way the artist is not known as a drummer.
Jeff Beck, Superstition.
Jeff Beck Group?
Superstition was a favorite of mine at that time. Kind of a unique sound. Little Stevie was really in a groove there for a few years.
Any guess on the band? One studio album. They would play "Shotgun" live as well like the band the drummer and bassist had been with.
I'll give it some thought but probably a level above my knowledge. It is fun to learn the connections some of these groups have in terms of personnel that you would never expect. Good musicians are good musicians.
