Music Trivia!
We gotta finish 3G's question first.  Thread rules!   Wink

Erhino and Scarlett are tied with one of the three answers each. Scarlett got the artist and erhino got the song. If one of you can tell me the subject of the song then you'll be up. I think knowing what that song is about adds a lot to the listening.

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night
You took your life, as lovers often do
But I could have told you, Vincent
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you
Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in the ragged clothes
The silver thorn, a bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will

dkeener up as erhino did get the song but wondering if the whole song and a starry night are enough for someone to get the last part of my question.

So the meaning of the song is deeper than McClean lamenting van Goghs suicide?

No that's it. Nobody answered it. It's about Vincent Van Gogh. A lot of people think it's called Starry Starry Night and don't know it's about Van Gogh with references to his paintings and suicide.

To add, I turn the radio every time American Pie is on, which makes this his best song by far. Second best thing John McClain did, with the first taking out Hanz Gruber.

A lyric question from me.  Early 90s tune from a guy who thankfully does not pronounce his last name the way it is spelled.  Looking for song and artist

Today I dream of how it used to be
Things were different before
The picture shifts to how it's going to be
Balance restored
When you know even for a moment
That it's your time
Then you can walk with the power
Of a thousand generations

Okay, donâ€t know guy who sang the above.

Other artist guesses:

Mike Hunt
Heywood Jablowme

Rhino, you are actually on the right track. Big Grin   2 more hints:  Not a band.  Solo artist, and heâ€s Canadian.
