Music Trivia!
Hmmmm my 1st thought is its a East Coast artist was thinking Bruce Springsteen as he was signed originally by Columbia but i don't think that was until the early 70's . I'll have to dwell on it some more .

Remember I said it was related to your prior question. Not east coast.

Early on his favorite guitar was one of these below. He played a normally 12 string Fender at Woodstock but with just 6 strings on the guitar.

I don't know what earlier question you are referring to with Soup, but I'm gonna throw out an answer anyway.  Carlos Santana?

Nope. Santana did play Woodstock. But he was playing a Gibson SG.

The artist in question was playing a Fender XII at Woodstock but with six strings with his brother on keyboards. They didn't make the Woodstock movie although clips can be seen online.

Nope. Allman didn't play Woodstock and I don't think was ever signed to a record deal of his own outside a band. This was an individual signing although his first album had the backing of a band he was associated with although their name was omitted. This is where we get the relationship to TCSoup's question.

Gotcha, my bad. I thought someone had already put out the guy that was my first guess.

Only because his name was mentioned...Johnny Winter.

I thought I'd pretty much given the answer up to TCSoup at least.
Guitarist with largest recording company advance to date in 1969. Played Woodstock with brother on keyboards. Favored Gibson Firebirds in his early days.
Check TCSoup's previous original question.

You put that up while I was posting.
Johnny Winter is correct.
He was invited to play Fillmore East with Mike Bloomfield and Stephen Stills in 1968 and Columbia execs in attendance signed him up a few days later to the biggest record company advance to date, 600K. He only played one song.
His second album was Johnny Winter and. It was initially Johnny Winter and the McCoys because that's who the band was, including Derringer.
He favored Gibson Firebird Vs and here he is playing  Woodstock with a Fender XII with 6 strings. His brother Edgar was on keyboards and that's Tommy Shannon later of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble on bass.

You are up Erhino.

He was something. I think he would've done a lot more and still been around if not for cigarettes and his heroin addiction when he was younger. That's cool you got to see him before he passed. I remember seeing SRV just before he was killed.
