I like this Ohio Theme so here goes:
This artist was also a Producer who played in and Produced all of 2 West Coast brothers hits who went either Gold or Platinum on Disc / Album recordings .
Also is credited with discovering Cyndi Lauper and "Weird Al " Yankovich producing 2 of his early hits.
This artist also had a few hits on his own with one of them very well known and was the 1st Song ever played in Moscow's Red Square when the Government decided to allow RockinRoll to be played there. This Song reached Number 1 in every Country it was played in and is still extremely popular in Ohio.
Name the Artist , His Band and the Song.

I'm a bit baffled here. I can think of an Ohioan involved with 2 brothers and Weird Al. But the brothers are Texans and I can't think of any connection to Lauper or Red Square. He had two hits I know of . One with a group and one solo. Neither was a number one I don't think but I'm not good at chart stuff.

I thought Dr Demento found Weird Al. I am guessing he has a real name and is from Ohio.

Rick Derringer worked with him early on and the Winter Brothers and he's an Ohioan. But the rest doesn't fit that I know of. And the Winters brothers are Texans. And I never thought of him as mainly a producer.

I don†t know where the Winter Brothers were from, but maybe they did their recording on the West Coast.
And by the way, the original video recording or one of the early videos of the McCoys playing hang on sloopy has an awesome girl dancing in the parking lot to it.

Winter brothers are from Texas , But i'm sorry i misled as Edgar lives now in California and has for a long time . When he went out there and eventually hooked up with Ronnie Montrose and spent the majority of his time based out of there. I believe Johnny went out there and recorded .
Rick Derringer, The McCoys and Hang on Sloopy . Hang on Sloopy is the Official State of Ohio Rock Song , Derringer Produced 6 Weird Al Albums up until 92 , he has a very long list of composer and producer credits.
Your up.

I was actually thinking Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo. But he discovered Cyndi Lauper? Who played the song on Red Square? I thought McCartney was the first and I assumed it would be Back in the USSR.

The Russian Government played Hang on Sloopy 1st i'm guessing over loud speakers, The 2nd Song they played was Yesterday by the Beatles .https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiat9eK3o7oAhUKnq0KHV5eAy8QFjAAegQIChAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRick_Derringer&usg=AOvVaw128yzAs8gTsaYkLAvZbu8m

I was assuming it was the first rock concert in Red Square. Interesting question. I knew about Derringer's association with the Winters and Yankovic but none of the rest.

TCsoup's in charge of who is up next. I don't really think I got it. It was a good question but I was kind of lost.

I'm for letting anyone toss one out there just to keep the thread going.Â

If you got one let it fly. No it was a good question and interesting. The confusion was on me. I overthought it as someone said.Â
Somewhat related.
In December 1968 Columbia record executives saw this guitarist play at the Fillmore East and signed him to the biggest recording industry advance, 600K, at that time.
