Leave it up to the locals.
And IF they magically disappeared, history would remain just as it is today. That isn't my suggestion as a course of action, to "disappear them", but merely to note that would not change history nor our learning of it.

That's part of the problem, the locals don't want anything moved. A lot of noise is coming from outside of the community. So you have people lets just say for argumentative sake coming from California to protest in lets say Arkansas. So should something be moved or displaced if people not from your community want it gone?

By the same token, I suppose a Vietnamese-American could declare that the Vietnam War Memorial should be torn down because, as they could claim, American soldiers killed a lot of innocent Vietnamese.
Similarly, one could declare that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. mistreated his wife via his infidelity and, therefore, all memorials to him should be removed.
It can probably be argued that NO public memorials, statues, etc. should be named after or exist in memory of any human, as they have all engaged in "bad" behavior.

Quite a few "non-dictators" have tried to change history. We see it in this country fairly often.

They may have tried, but the dictators succeeded---for a while anyway. Â
When Obama said fundamental transformation, that was scary.  When she said "change our history" the nation should have freaked the #### out.  Man our media really does suck.
