I view it as a challenging issue with three major facets:
1. The asylees 2. Mexicans who cross for work and then cross back 3. Mexicans who crossed and stayed. There are some obvious areas for compromise between the two parties, but the Dems don't want a win for Trump. Maybe in 2021.

My "solution" would be:
1. Asylees do have to apply in the first country they enter. If they get here, rejected immediately. 2. Illegals currently here register as such and get work permits etc. but zero path to citizenship ever. 3. Work permits for the ag workers from Mexico who come and go. 4. A wall or suitable barrier where it makes sense. 5. Asylees here for economic reasons are rejected immediately. |
