It still was until the 1980's. All the older kids were waiting to graduate HS to go work at Ford, GM, Dodge, US Steel and all the small factories that supported those companies. I can't recall a single older dude who did not have a nice car. Not one. Then the class of 1977 arrived. This was the first time I can remember the older kids having trouble finding jobs.

This was the first time I can remember the older kids having trouble finding jobs. there are plenty of jobs now in this state but there are plenty of druggies and ne'er do wells also.  All 3 of my sons have great jobs (2 in Columbus) and every student in my at risk program has a job and is making money.  The state is being ruined by druggies who won't work or clean up their lives or be good property owners. The state is inundated by trash also. It's everywhere.

Considering we live in modern times, with modern medicine and care and we STILL have major issue like this pandemic....just think how bad the black death was with the Bubonic Plague buboes lymph nodes bursting with blood.
