You are welcome to believe whatever you wish, fine with me.  Are you mistaken?  I have no idea, and don't care either about his sexuality.  The thought has never occurred to me until your post, but I make very little effort in general to classify people using such terms unless they bring it into the open.

I find it bizarre.  I understand ala fairly well I think.  Nothing gets under his skin ever, he's calm and constant and admirable.

I defend gays a lot. He likely thinks it's an insult and I'll be hurt. I find liberals often question sexuality and masculinity. I always respond by saying I'm gay and accusing them of homophobia by using it as an insult. It's comical to watch them backtrack. That won't work on a Bible thumper though. I'll just note I don't regard it as an insult. It's pretty much a nothing.

Link to where I ever played the "you're not acting like a good Christian card" . You're going to have  a hard time because that has only happened in your imagination. You know that place where you keep all the evidence for a Christian god. Just noting Ala seems to have a better handle on his faith and lacks your need for validation. 
Oh you'll have to start enforcing the threads for Christians bit then . Maybe put up a sign or something.
