...there is no lesson. The left will NEVER acknowledge their mistakes. Nothing and I mean NOTHING is more important to the left than their narrative. They would rather see the entire planet die before admitting that their ideology is garbage.

I don’t know if it is directly applicable to these current fires, but there are multiple things that the state has failed on.
The NPS folks do controlled burns and manage national lands so that they can keep down the chances of large fires.
State officials have been heavily influenced by environmentalists who don’t like management like taht and want pure “natural” lands….which causes overgrowth and an environment taht is ripe for out of control burning when conditions hit. “But climate change….” is then the pat answer.
Further, water management is another huge area.

I remember when local governments focused on services that were of benefit to the city in general like police and fire services, local roads, etc. Once the Left got full control of the cities, the focus has become social justice, spending money for housing and the like on hobos and vagrants, and other nonsense designed to win votes from low IQ morons and Leftists. We are seeing a big increase in "homelessness" and illegals here as the city politicians cater to them and spend more money on them as has been done in various West Coast cities which now have more homeless than they know what to do with. I assume the fire situation in LA is at least partially related to that type of thinking instead of preparing for what is happening there now.

Agreed. We were in NoCal in 2023 and the coast was a mess. The smell of weed permeated everywhere, the homeless encampments everywhere.
In state in the Sierra Nevada mountains side it was conservative and sane.

I hate the government in Cal more than most. But even I, who lost my house in a fire, have trouble laying this at their feet. They could have done more, but nothing they could have done would have stopped this

Stopping it and mitigating the damage are two different things. I've heard plenty of people out there talk about the lack of water and the lack of fire personnel being responsible for the high level of damage. Although these fires can start naturally people have also talked about open fires in the hobo camps as a possible cause of some of them. I don't think the level of incompetence displayed by Newsom and Bass deserves any benefit of the doubt.
