If you'd post with just a modicum of class you'd still be a member.   Big Grin

She has always been kind to me and I to her. She used to watch the house when we traveled but she since retired (Philly DA) and has moved to GA. Her husband is a male feminist and we don't get along well. We're polite to one another but something about a man bag he carries just does not seem right with me. Think Meathead on All in the Family.

Dune - I had a similar experience as you had holding in a laugh but mine was at a funeral.

You dumped a bunch of friends? I hope there were more like acquaintances than friends. I can't see dropping my friend inventory down to two..

Yes, I dumped friends. Most were "Fairweather" types that only contacted me when they needed or wanted something. I did this to family members (cousins) too. I don't have time to play part time friends to people. I'd rather they never claim to be friend and contact me out of the blue to ask for things. At least then they'd get the hint I moved on.

I have lived 5 lifetimes and I'm in the 6th which is much different than the Fairweather friends could imagine. Good luck to them!

My friend inventory just got smaller as I just found out a childhood friend died last week. He barely made 60. Soon, I'll just have Japanese, Korean, and Aussie friends. No big deal to me.
The America, and the American Military, that you once knew is gone.

The highest category of friends are those who would do something illegal if I asked them to if it was the morally correct thing to do.  Otherwise I have friends who are socialists, Jews, blacks, Catholics, evangelicals, Democrats, Republicans and just about any other classification.

I had a close circle where we pledged to “take out the boyfriend of the daughter if necessary”
It never became necessary
