zigbeeHave you ever dumped friends over politics? Trump?
#16
Stocks historically do better under Dems.  Probably because they spend money like a sieve (the GOP is currently about the same though), and if you pay attention to where all those govt contracts are going… voila… Higher stock price!

The usual pattern consists of Dems blowing through money like a trust fund kid on a coke bender.  Republicans traditionally play the role of the adult in the room and pump the brakes and make the market slightly less predictable.  You know, the way it’s supposed to be.

Recent exceptions to the rule on either side were Clinton and Trump.

Yep. I blocked luvdabux.  He had insufferable TDS, which he acknowledged, but I got tired of his texting insults and I mean unprovoked insults.  Hell I would even try to placate him by sending him some anti Trump stuff on occasion, and never did I ever  defend Trump or rah rah Trump.  He got out of control, just  bad TDS.

Underling #2 coming to the defense of underling #1.

You do realize that he was insulting nearly our entire population with that comment, don't you?  49% or better voted for Trump, 48% voted for Kameltoe.  So all of them are insufferable.  Are you in the 3% with 3VII?

Don't make me bump the Bammer hate thread.

Not dumped but had some arguments where things were never the same.  My niece through marriage was one.  She is a typical condescending lib who feels the moral superiority of if a dem says someone is bad then they are bad but if a pub calls people out, they are mean spirited.  She was raised upper middle class and is in the medical field

She posted there was a Trump rally starting at a local mall before the 2020 election and she said "one of those people parkered near her"  SO when I asked her what is one of those people and she described Trump supporters.  so I said maybe some are her garbageman, own a small carpentry business, plumbers electrician or maybe her pharmacist?  So I asked her if she was in the party of tolerance why does she look down on these people and she got pizzed  We say hi at family events but I host many family events which I have not extended them an invite.

One of my nieces is a flaming lib.  We haven't talked politics in ages.  We won't either.  Now my brother (her dad) is an old school Dem that's voted Trump, I believe, 3 times now.  Those two go at it.  He bought her an NRA membership a couple years ago.  Man was she pizzed.   Tongue   He tells her that the 2A shouldn't be political, etc...  but she's not buying what he's selling.

My niece is a communist.  She worked for ACORN in Oakland until they shut down.  Her mother has been to Cuba multiple times and is a communist.  Can't stand either one of them.  The mother used to be nasty to my MIL and my wife almost took her out multiple times.  Her husband (wifeys brother) died about five years ago from a glioblastoma and we haven't talked to either one of them since the funeral.

Funny story.  This niece got married about four months before her father died.  She and the groom both live in Oakland and the wedding was in Akron so dad could be there.  They brought in some woman minister from Oakland that runs a lgbtq church (the niece was bi for a while I understand).  Anyway, she went to college at Capital University in Columbus and was a music major.  A ton of money out the window on a worthless degree.  After they said their I Dos the decided to serenade us with their musical prowess.  He plays the guitar and she plays the trombone.  I don't know if any of you have heard a duet of trombone and guitar but it was as funny as it sounds.  I've been embarrassed in the past from laughing at inappropriate times (Jewish wedding, off voices in church ect.) and this was one of them.  I got some looks as I was just lightly bouncing in my chair with my hand over my mouth (wifey was reacting the same and shares my sense of humor) but we got thru it.  At least her dad got to give her away.  I'm pretty sure over the last five or so years he would have liked to have done the same with the b*tch he was married to.

I dropped all friends outside of two former teammates and childhood friends that I have stayed in contact. It had nothing to do with politics. I simply want less people in my life these days. One of my cousins is a full blown feminist but we get along great. When my parents took my older siblings on trips she would babysit the rest of us. She has always been kind to me and I to her. She used to watch the house when we traveled but she since retired (Philly DA) and has moved to GA. Her husband is a male feminist and we don't get along well. We're polite to one another but something about a man bag he carries just does not seem right with me. Think Meathead on All in the Family.

Dune - I had a similar experience as you had holding in a laugh but mine was at a funeral.
The America, and the American Military, that you once knew is gone.
