To clarify, nobody is advocating banning TikTok.  People are advocating banning Chinese Communist owned TikTok.

Almost true. I'm advocating banning dum dum and instadum until people have some manners in public.

I’m advocating public flogging for public disorder offenses, like in Singapore. No fine, no probation, just take your 5 lashes and go. No more than one flogging every 6 weeks for repeat offenders. Oh, and your device goes in the grinder if you coordinated your offense on social media.

I often wondered if tik tok was the same in the US and in Asia. It's not. The Chinese have Douyin with educational type content while the West gets the burfle we see all over social media.

One inspires young people to become engineers, physicists, physicians and the other encourages people to eat laundry soap pods.

Does China have Khan Academy? That is the academic YouTube.

Your government masters were paying TikTok influencers to post their propaganda. It didn't work and so they want it banned. If TikTok was full of people singing the praises of your government masters we wouldn't be having this conversation.

If it was just a free speech issue,  I wouldn't support banning TikTok.  Twitter is as, if not more, dangerous than TikTok and I would never support banning it.

The part of banning TikTok that I support is that it gives China a direct line into a lot of personal information: email, phone #, location, address, etc.

Instead they should use a device devoid of such data. With that said, the government should not have the power to dictate that we cannot view foreign media sources.

The CCP can interlink itself with any business it wants.  That's how it works in China.  There's clearly an incentive for the CCP to do so with TikTok.
