Fwiw, if memory serves me right, Adams got into legal trouble once he began to voice his displeasure over Biden’s immigration “policies,” if you can call them that.  

So that said I’d like to know more about his story before I start buying into a notion that DOJ prosecutors are falling on some sort of sainted ethical sword of some sort.

In a little-noticed directive on her first day in office, Attorney General Pam Bondi ordered a halt to a years-old federal law enforcement effort to combat secret influence campaigns by China, Russia and other adversaries that try to curry favor and sow chaos in American politics.

Buried on the fourth page of one of 14 policy memos Bondi issued Wednesday, the order disbands the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force and pares back enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, despite years of warnings by U.S. intelligence agencies that foreign malign influence operations involving disinformation were a growing and dangerous threat.

“To free resources to address more pressing priorities, and end risks of further weaponization and abuses of prosecutorial discretion, the Foreign Influence Task Force shall be disbanded,” the order states.

It also states that criminal charges for violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which requires people to register when lobbying on behalf of a foreign nation, “shall be limited to instances of alleged conduct similar to more traditional espionage by foreign government actors.” The order adds that DOJ prosecutors instead “shall focus on civil enforcement, regulatory initiatives, and public guidance.”

A separate Bondi directive also disbanded efforts to seize the assets of Russian oligarchs, including Task Force Klepto Capture and the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative.

The order said the personnel working on those projects will be reassigned to target drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations. Forfeiture cases already underway will continue to be pursued, officials said.

So….combine that with Pete Hegseth stating that the Admin wants to pivot from Ukraine Russian focus to a China focus. 

To me this says that they aren’t dismissing the efforts but reassigning them into military intelligence. 

Or maybe NBC isn’t reporting half the story, because they didn’t do any research,  and the Administration is totally feckless

So how does this work?  I just looked and didn't see a way for one federal judge to over rule another federal judge.

Can one federal judge overrule another?

The general rule is that one trial judge may not modify or overrule an order entered by another trial judge on a matter of law. If the order is about a matter of discretion rather than a matter of law, the second judge may modify it, but only if there has been a substantial change in circumstances.

How can one federal court overrule another?

Since one panel cannot reject another's ruling, en banc review is the only way for a Third Circuit panel decision to be overruled. Thus, parties who want to have a decision overruled can seek en banc review of a panel decision.


Never mind, I guess. I can't seem to find an original ruling that this ruling overturned. I'm not sure what stopped DOGE from access to the information in the first place. I thought there had been a ruling blocking DOGE's access to government files.

N.Y. Gov. Hochul signals she may move to force NYC Mayor Eric Adams from office

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signaled late Monday she may use her authority to remove New York City Mayor Eric Adams from office.

Hochul acknowledged in a statement that ousting Adams, a fellow Democrat, would be a "serious step" but said "alleged conduct at City Hall that has been reported over the past two weeks is troubling and cannot be ignored."

Hochul said she plans to meet with "key leaders" in Manhattan on Tuesday before issuing a decision.

This development comes after controversy surrounding Adams deepened on Monday as four of his top aides and deputy mayors announced they're resigning.

“Alleged conduct.”  Where were these people the last 4 years?  Bondi, believe her or not, says the case against him is weak sauce.  So we have two alleged scenarios playing out simultaneously.  

If it’s in Hochul’s purview to do this then I say knock yourself out.  

Man, they are itching for a scandal that connects this to the WH.  That will be the next thing with the obligatory call for impeachment.  Man, these guys need a new go-to move in a big way.

I think the timing of the charges against Adams is odd…. Right after he starts raising a big stink about 100,000 illegals in the city. It almost mirrors the timing of the charges against Trump in relation to when he announced his candidacy.

Bondi had to say it was weak in order to do what Trump wanted her to do.

She couldn't say the evidence and case were solid and then drop the charges.
