Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the nation’s top health official, has an unorthodox idea for tackling the bird flu bedeviling U.S. poultry farms. Let the virus rip.

Instead of culling birds when the infection is discovered, farmers “should consider maybe the possibility of letting it run through the flock so that we can identify the birds, and preserve the birds, that are immune to it,” Mr. Kennedy said recently on Fox News.

He has repeated the idea in other interviews on the channel.

Mr. Kennedy does not have jurisdiction over farms. But Brooke Rollins, the agriculture secretary, also has voiced support for the notion.

“There are some farmers that are out there that are willing to really try this on a pilot as we build the safe perimeter around them to see if there is a way forward with immunity,” Ms. Rollins told Fox News last month.

Herd immunity is a thing. If you do it in a controlled environment, it could be a massive gain
It won't occur.  Birds are raised and killed within months. Layers in a year or two. Think about it. The retard HHS secretary can't think but you can. The 'herd" is constantly turning over.  Fresh meat for viruses over and over. That's without getting into the issue of mutation. There won't be a controlled environment they'llpass around from farm to farm.
We both know I don’t know Diddley about chicken immune systems or the process of raising them. But the way I read the comments, their thought was to take a herd, raise them in exposure to the flu, and then you use the survivors. Essentially these birds are part of a process, not part of the food chain, at least until immunity is achieved.  Is that not “medically possible”?
That wouldn't be the way to do it. What they're looking at is identifying the genetic reason for the immunity or resistance. And some important genes have been identified and they may start to breed chickens for those. Vaccines are also being considered but culling is still what they're doing right now. Vaccinating is tough with the numbers and turnover. The big problem with flu is mutation. You may vaccinate or breed resistant birds just to have the virus evade that immunity.

NEW YORK (AP) — Columbia University said Monday that it has removed three administrators from their positions and will keep them on leave indefinitely after finding that text messages they exchanged during a campus discussion about Jewish life “disturbingly
touched on ancient antisemitic tropes.”

Is this a good thing?

Obviously.

Here's a good discussion of the issue revolving around Kennedy's wrong statements. He has no clue and no clue that he has no clue.

Disagree. They are on leave, not fired.  Translation: we will let everything calm down and then reinstate them..

Tom Homan is an excellent choice by Trump. I wish all the cabinet members were of his caliber.

No longer GroupThink 'woke', but it was fun while it lasted.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans

U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

Seriously.  I mean, I've accidentally emailed co-worker A rather than co-worker B because they had the same first name and Outlook auto filled....but holy crap.

No doubt this guy was texted.  I do want follow up on this because apparently there are lines used in which they include the media.  There is another line used for classified info the media is not part of.  The adm. denies he got that access.  We will see what he really got and if he was on the classified server how he got there?  Yes there was a mistake we need to know at which level.
