P1tchB7ackCampaigning is done. Time for the bad news.
The guy's a crook and that's why he got nailed. Trump's a crook and that's why he let him off the hook. Like a mob boss. He did him a favor and now he owes Trump, or else.
I doubt Adams lasts. He's a Dem and even being forced to do the bidding of Trump to stay out of jail won't get him much support from the GOP in NY and the Dems are going to get him out of there one way or another.

Remember when Republicans used to believe in NOT interfering in the goings-on of private business?

Bah.... the elderly don't really need flu shots, do they?

I heard that RFK plans to throw a dart at a dart board to pick the strain.

FDA cancels meeting to choose flu vaccine strain

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) abruptly canceled a vaccine advisory meeting where members were slated to discuss influenza vaccine strains.

The meeting was scheduled for March 13. Committee members received an email informing them of the cancellation Wednesday afternoon with no rescheduling information and no reason given for the cancellation, committee member Paul Offit confirmed.

The Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee meets every March to determine which flu strains should be targeted, in order to give companies time to update their vaccines ahead of the upcoming flu season.

“A planned March 13 meeting of the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee on the influenza vaccine strains for the 2025-2026 influenza season in the northern hemisphere has been cancelled,” Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesperson Andrew Nixon told The Hill. “The FDA will make public its recommendations to manufacturers in time for updated vaccines to be available for the 2025-2026 influenza season.”

If the HHS was to not make any flu strain recommendations, companies would likely have to rely on those made by a panel led by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is meeting this week. Despite President Trump intending to withdraw the U.S. from the WHO, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is still reportedly participating in the meeting.

So, Trump delays auto manufacturer tariffs for 30 days.  Does he think an auto maker can move manufacturing operations in a month?

Trump delays auto tariffs. Pickup trucks might explain why.

So Trump thinks a much poorer Mexico will be able to do so with a far more corrupt government? It's nice Mexico will sort of try to avoid becoming poorer. Demand remains. It will be satisfied. That will be true until we solve that part of the puzzle. Not saying every bit doesn't help I just don't see much benefit in bullying allies for marginal if any gains. I'm still have no idea what is expected of Canada or why.

U.S. Citizens Were 89% of Convicted Fentanyl Traffickers in 2022

Fentanyl overdoses tragically caused tens of thousands of preventable deaths last year. Many politicians who want to end U.S. asylum law claim that immigrants crossing the border illegally are responsible. An NPR‐Ipsos poll found that 39 percent of Americans and 60 percent of Republicans believe, “Most of the fentanyl entering the U.S. is smuggled in by unauthorized migrants crossing the border illegally.” A more accurate summary is that fentanyl is overwhelmingly smuggled by U.S. citizens, almost entirely for U.S. citizen consumers.

Here are the facts:
  • Fentanyl smuggling is ultimately funded by U.S. consumers who pay for illicit opioids: nearly 99 percent of whom are U.S. citizens.
  • In 2022, U.S. citizens were 89 percent of convicted fentanyl drug traffickers—12 times greater than convictions of illegal immigrants for the same offense.
  • In 2023, 93 percent of fentanyl seizures occurred at legal crossing points or interior vehicle checkpoints, not on illegal migration routes, so U.S. citizens (who are subject to less scrutiny) when crossing legally are the best smugglers.
  • The location of smuggling makes sense because hard drugs at ports of entry are at least 96 percent less likely to be stopped than people crossing illegally between them.

Trump administration is telling universities what classes they're allowed to offer and who it can employ.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Trump administration brushed aside decades of precedent when it ordered Columbia University to oust the leadership of an academic department, a demand seen as a direct attack on academic freedom and a warning of what’s to come for other colleges facing federal scrutiny.

Federal officials told the university it must immediately place its Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies Department under “academic receivership for a minimum of five years.” The demand was among several described as conditions for receiving federal funding, including $400 million already pulled over allegations of antisemitism.

Conditions on receiving federal funding.

You want academic freedom so you can teach how Jews are evil?  Then go your own way.

Hmm let's see a political party  or presidential administration holding or withholding funding unless institutions,  agencies or companies  do things their way!!!!  I guess this is just novel to the Trump Adm.  Some people want to pretend like the previous 4 years of forcing dei regs never existed.  Of course that is just one example where there are so many but again I guess it is only an issue if Trump does it
