How many years does DeBoer get til the locals call for his head? Farrr DeBoer. Reminiscent of the Farrr Kewper days we all went through. Though I say our sample size was enough to justify a lot of the calls for his head.
Barring an epic team implosion next year-like FSU this year, DeBoer will get three seasons at Bama to make some serious noise, imo. The SEC didn’t do themselves any favors with their own expansion, they just made the league a lot tougher.
This isn't the SEC anymore and it isn't the Big 10 anymore either. Expansion was about either eating or being eaten. The entertainment corporations and professionalism have basically ruined college sports but most fans just don't realize it yet. I can't believe anyone still gets worked up and emotionally invested in any of this today. It's been turned into "sports/entertainment" almost like WWE. Remember the nWo? I can't wait until they go to subscription only channels trying to milk even more money out of it.
Everyone knows its going to implode. That isn't a secret. It's the not same as sports entertainment though, because they games are still real. It's not like the season is scripted like wrestling is.

Why is it going to implode? I associate “implode” with failure. If college football is failing it’s the best kept secret going.
I admit though to just being a sports fan. I don’t really follow the business aspect of it, so I never really understood the nuts and bolts behind inevitable expansion. Conferences across the country all seemed to be doing just fine to me. Where did this all come from? I’m sure tv and perhaps NIL $$$ played major roles, but to what degree I do not know.

I think in terms of interest it will eventually decline just as we are seeing with college basketball. Everyone has been taken care of except the fans and the fans will respond.

I don’t know. I think the expanded playoff is definitely a sign that the fans are being somewhat considered. Might just be coincidental, but the playoff allows more teams for a at least a chance. Hard to argue that the playoff is bad for the game.

Yeah the playoff will be a financial winner for the most part and could/should have been done long ago when things were more stable. What will cause the decline is NIL, easy transfer rules, and conference realignment. If you don't make the playoff now, your consolation prize is a meaningless bowl game where the best players sit out the game.

I'm not so sure the top seed is OSU's easiet CFP path.
Which path to the semis is easier?
Single game on neutral field vs. Georgia-Tennessee winner?
Home game with Arizona St followed by neutral field game with Boise St?
The CFP is going to need to tweak the format in the future. If you want to give automatic bids to champions of crap conferences, fine. But seeding should be best to worst.

Seeding will change next couple of weeks.
The teams that have to win to stay in are IN, TN, BYU, ASU, Tulane, UNLV, and Boise. Boise is not getting in the playoff with 2 losses even if it wins the Mountain West title neither is UNLV. Tulane would pass both 2 loss Mountain West title winner with a win in the AAC title game.
UGA could lose to GT (ACC) and still get in with a SEC title game win. Same with SMU vs Houston as it's already guaranteed a berth in the Big 12 title game.
Locks even with a loss on Saturday. PSU, tOSU, TX, ND.
Assuming everything plays out and no upsets.
AAC title: Army vs Tulane - Tulane is not guaranteed a playoff berth with a win, so a loss eliminates them
ACC title: Miami vs SMU - SMU is out with a loss
Big 12 title: ASU vs BYU - loser is out of playoff
Big Ten title: Ore vs tOSU - neither team is harmed outside of seeding with a loss
Mountain West title: Boise vs UNLV - neither team can afford a loss
SEC title: TX vs UGA - UGA is out with a loss
Bama needs one of the following to lose - Boise or Clemson or UGA in the SEC title game. If none lose Bama will be in a bowl vs one of Illinois/Iowa/Wash/MI/USC. I'd guess 5+ players would sit out for Bama. No incentive to play and possibly get hurt before draft day.

Bingo on the seeding aspect. On that note, who was the moron that decided to seed teams this way? This is insane. An auto bid is one thing, fine. But the seeding? It’s like DEI crept into their thinking. Just seed them as a normal ####### human being would seed them. Why do they have to make everything so damn difficult/stupid?
Edit: responding to Beast. Lrrps got in there a hair before me

Seeding may change over the next few weeks, but you're still almost certainly gonna have:
- A week ass team as the 12 seed.
- A week ass team as the 4 seed.
- A couple of dangerous teams in the 8/9 slots.
If the quarterfinals were home games for the higher seeded team, instead of being played on a neutral field, I would definitely prefer the 1 seed. But since they're not, I'm not so sure.

Did UM really pay this QB recruit $10 million? That's insane. I hope he enjoys playing for a team ineligible for the CFP on a team not good enough to get there even if they were eligible.

Snatched him from LSU. Billionaire booster ponied up the coin. It's the future of college football. Saban left for a reason.
The good news is Brian Kelly probably is on thin ice for losing the qb, and James Carville can finally stop being triggered by Trump long enough to cheer Kelly's demise.

Deals like that are why I believe the NCAA, or whatever future governing body we have, will eventually step in with limitations on this lunacy. Maybe something like spending over a certain limit in a year costing you a number of roster spots? I would says schollies, but those have sort of become a joke with the amount of money floating around now.

CO is going to get one, if not two, tOSU decommits. Seems two top 100 DE recruits bailed on tOSU. It's not money as tOSU has the boosters to spend.
