Oregon can be beaten. But I would agree they’re going to be tough. Georgia and Texas both have defenses that could get pressure on Gabriel. He steps up in the pocket with that edge pressure and hits the deep middle for their big plays. If someone can slow that and get pressure up the middle they’d have a shot.

Ohio st was right there neck and neck with them on the road and that was with two turnovers.

Someone just sent me the seeds and we’re 8th and play Tennessee.  Ranked behind PSU who is 6th.  Unless this guy showed me an old chart, this is messed up.  Especially for Oregon.  They get us or Tennessee in their first game, and lower seeds on the top 4 get better match ups.  Incredible

Any system where Arizona State and Boise are top 4 seeds is a joke.

Yup. I was shocked the committee kept its word and did not penalize a team that played in a conference title game. The committee turned down Alabama vs ND. The ratings alone for that game would have been huge.

Committee couldn't put SMU into the playoff for losing to Clemson if PSU fell behind tOSU for losing to Oregon.

Well if they finally conspired against Alabama it was all worth it.   Big Grin   That said, if I were an Oregon fan I’d be calling this auto top 4 bid for conference champs format into serious question.  Whose idea was that?  Just seed like a normal functioning human being, best to worst.  What did Oregon gain by being the number one seed?  This is just a bizarre seeding format.  Took a simple concept and seemingly went out of their way to make it murky as hell.   Confused

Right off the bat my futures bet has tOSU (my favored to win it all) vs TN (my dark horse to win it all). Then the winner potentially has to play OR, TX, and UGA to win it all. I'm not sure that bet will net anything but a loss.

Day has 2 weeks to coach up this group.  He needs to fix the blocking to run, set up pass, protect QB.

We shall see.  Big win over Vols will give them shot at revenge.  Tough to beat a team twice.

Oregon the only team in our path that I'm really concerned with.  And we played within 1 point of them on their home field.

The other teams are very good and, heck, we could easily lose in round 1, but they don't really blow me away either.  We can play with these teams as long as our OC isn't on some bender during the game itself.  What happened with the play calling in the 2024 version of THE GAME will be discussed by OSU fans for ages to come.

Day just needs to cut loose like he did in his playoff games vs Clemson and Georgia.  Run game is going to need some creativity.

2025 QB Chase Herbstreit, son of Kirk, commits to Michigan

Class of 2025 quarterback Chase Herbstreit, the son of ESPN analyst and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, committed to Michigan on Sunday afternoon.

Herbstreit will join the Wolverines on scholarship as the second quarterback in the program's 2025 class alongside five-star passer and No. 1 overall prospect Bryce Underwood, who signed with Michigan when the early signing period opened earlier this week. Herbstreit does not hold a rating in ESPN's class rankings for the 2025 class.[Image: i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2024%2F1208%2Fr1425380_...format=jpg]

Herbstreit arrives in the Wolverine's incoming class following his senior season at Cincinnati's St. Xavier High School. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback totaled 26 touchdowns in his final high school season, leading St. Xavier to a regional final last month.

Herbstreit lands as the 23rd member of Sherrone Moore's inaugural recruiting class, which is headlined by Underwood and nine other prospects ranked inside the 2025 ESPN 300. Michigan closed the early signing period this week with the sixth-ranked class in ESPN's latest class rankings for the 2025 cycle.

With his commitment, Herbstreit follows the family line into college football. Kirk Herbstreit was a four-year letterman at Ohio State from 1989-93. The younger Herbstreit's path into Power 4 football follows older brother's Tye and Jake, who each played at Clemson as walk-ons.

Another one of Herbstreit's sons, Zak, is a walk-on tight end at Ohio State. He's in his fourth season with the program, though he previously dealt with a heart issue during his college career that hospitalized him.

Well if there's a Buckeye alum whose kids I would pick to go to ttrun it would be Herbstreit's.  100 and what, 20 some division 1 schools and Herby's kid picks UM?  Friggin incredible
