Well, I’m in this till surgery on pain pills till surgery. No choice than suffer and I’m done with this. Oxycodone twice a day, but I won’t take more.
They tested urine….they asked “you use THC?”
Yes I do. I’m from Ohio and it’s legal. Was told this is NC…illegal. We test you in 3 weeks and if positive you are dropped. I stopped.

I had to take them for a little while. I once fell asleep standing up while I was strolling through the woods. When I came to I was still standing up, and there were these two kids fishing about five feet away from me that were both just staring at me with their jaws dropped. I just continued on with my walk.
Good times.
Everyone has a different pain tolerance threshold and it's difficult to judge how much pain someone is in and what levels of pain they are experiencing. Pain medicine also acts differently for different people and some need more, others have negative side effects, and some don't need much. You are right to be concerned, long term use of pain control narcotics can lead to addiction but sometimes, there is little or no choice.

My lower back needs walking yet it hurts my neck so now I’m getting stiffness there. Not good as I can’t take any PT. I lay on back and pull legs up, stretch, get up and walk about each hour. The neuro hospital has wing for therapy after surgery they move you to. It’s optional but this time I’m taking this option and staying till it’s better.

I can't take oxycodone/Percocet. It gives ne rage when I'm awake and psychotic/homicidal nightmares when sleeping. Tramadol is the only narcotic pain killer I know I can safely take.
I also need extra Lidocaine from the dentist. The standard amount doesn't do it. I feel every nerve that is hot when they're drilling.

I was gone from the board for several months, the period of time while you were recovering from your first surgery, is your current condition new or a result of the original surgery?

I take twice the amount of time for the dental shot to start working and twice as long for it to wear off but don't need any more than the standard dose. I was given 6 tramadol with my hernia surgery, took two the first day and then just went with regular Tylenol, probably didn't really need them.

My neck is from whiplash; as a child I an injury I suffered. I knew about it for 60 years. The condition finally collapsed to now a serious problem needing surgery. The lumbar severe generative disease was genetic. The stiffness in lumbar is from lying because moving grinds the cervical nerves to great pain.
How is Medicare treating you with these procedures?

That is an idiotic policy.

Zig, are you saying that Medicare will test you and drop you if you test positive for THC?

No. Pain management will.

Yeah, are they agreeing with the doctors and authorizing the surgeries, requiring other options first, paying the bills?

Of course they agree and paid 250k on first surgery. They require MRI, epidurals, X rays…all provided and Aetna has never denied anything. You are assigned case manager that calls you to go over the surgery. This isn’t some back water group. It’s part of my state retirement supplemental plan that’s tops. I paid 670 dollars last surgery on the 250K. Never an issue at all.
