Haha; we had a crazy busy week at work last week for a project submittal, so I wasn't around as much and missed it. No baby yet; my wife is beyond ready though. Official due date is this Wednesday, so fingers crossed she comes ASAP! Thanks Walt!

Cheesesteaks it is for the game. Kroger has some "shaved" beef and I had to get some. Of course onions and provolone will be on the bun. Here in Tennessee they don't have the good fresh baked bread like you get in Ohio so I'll settle for some Kroger versions of hoagie buns. Believe me they are different here.

Good crock pot time of year.  I love kraut and pork in the pot. Fix up some cornbread as well and that is awesome.  Ate some bean soup with cornbread couple weeks ago but it really gassed me too much to be honest.  I love cornbread and real butter. NOT MARGARINE.. butter.

Made some chicken noodle soup and cornbread last night for dinner. Came out perfect. I like my corn bread a little sweeter.

so, Rox....you pulled out the ole box of Jiffy cornbread mix, eh?
That's one of the things I have not picked up living in the south for 25 years. They love their cornbread.....and to me it is really dry and bland. I too like it sweeter.

How about the fried pickles? Cheesy grits? B&G? AKA Biscuits & Gravy.

fried pickles? No. Wife and sons love them though.
Cheesy grits? Delicious. Especially with a sharp cheese like Havarti or similar. Wife loves adding shrimp to it as well. Biscuits and gravy? Delicious. But just not a healthy way to eat regularly, so I limit what I have there.

A down vote for another southern snack: Boiled peanuts, yuck.During one of my trips to visit the youngest at USC in to Columbia, SC
there was a farmers market downtown right outside her apartment building. Walking through, I noticed several vendors cooking up boiled peanuts and curiosity finally got the better of me and I bought some. What a bad investment, disgusting. |
