(08-11-2023, 11:57 AM)P1tchblack Wrote: Merrick Garland Names David Weiss as Special Counsel in Hunter Biden Investigation
Attorney general says it is in public interest to grant designation to Weiss, who is handling the probe as U.S. attorney in Delaware
Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who has been investigating criminal allegations against President Biden's surviving son, Hunter Biden, has been named a special counsel, Attorney General Merrick Garland said Friday. Weiss made the request to be special counsel to Garland on Tuesday of this week.
Weiss, a Trump appointee as U.S. attorney who was retained during the Biden administration, has been investigating Hunter Biden since 2019. He reached a tentative plea deal with Hunter Biden, but it collapsed amid scrutiny from a Delaware federal judge.
The order of appointment for Weiss to serve as special counsel authorizes him to "conduct the ongoing investigation described above, as well as any matters that arose from that investigation or may arise."
The order gives Weiss the authority to "prosecute federal crimes in any federal judicial district arising from the investigation of these matters."
Attorney General Garland said Weiss requested the special counsel status earlier this week after determining that "in his judgment, his investigation has reached a stage at which he should continue his work as Special Counsel and he asked to be so appointed."
Weiss will produce a report at the end of his investigation pursuant with special counsel regulations. Garland said he would make that report public consistent with the law and Justice Department policy.
The development comes just weeks after the judge in the Hunter Biden case said she wasn't ready to accept the plea deal struck between the president's son and the Justice Department, and asked both parties to submit additional briefs and return to the court on a future date.
She demanded that the lawyers from both sides make clear that the deal does not convey broad immunity offered to Biden from prosecution on his business dealings. As a result, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor offenses related to his filing of federal income taxes. He will reverse that plea if a new plea agreement meets Noreika's approval.
But on Friday, the prosecutor in the case said the parties are at an impasse on the plea deal and a trial is in order, according to a court filing.
"Following additional negotiations after the hearing held on July 26, 2023, the parties are at an impasse and are not in agreement on either a plea agreement or a diversion agreement," the Justice Department said in the filing.
It said prosecutors requested Biden's position on Aug. 9 and asked for it by Aug. 11. Biden's lawyers said they needed an extension until Aug. 14, "which the Government declined." Bide had not yet provided his position, the filing said.
"As a result, the Government respectfully requests that the Court vacate its briefing order since there is no longer a plea agreement or diversion agreement for the Court to consider," the filing said.
Earlier this year, Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor offenses related to his filing of federal income taxes. Federal authorities also charged him with a felony firearm offense, for which he agreed to enter a pretrial diversion agreement that allows him to avoid prosecution.
According to David Weiss, the Trump-appointed Delaware U.S. attorney, Biden did not pay federal income taxes for either 2017 or 2018, despite owing more than $100,000 in taxes each year. Additionally, in October 2018 Biden possessed a firearm despite knowing he was an unlawful user of and addicted to a controlled substance, Weiss' office said.
Biden faced a maximum penalty of 12 months in prison on each of the tax charges and a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison on the firearm charge, but Weiss' office noted that actual sentences determined by judges are typically less than the maximums. A source familiar with the deal said the Justice Department had agreed to recommend probation on the tax charges but a judge will make the ultimate decision.

The guy that agreed to a plea deal that essentially granted Biden immunity for crimes surrounding the tax deal is now going to prosecute his case? Lmao. It’s almost to the point now where we just wave the white flag. I mean they don’t even bother trying to hide it anymore.

Yep, of course it's (Trump indictments) political. We have the case of Biden publicly claiming he'll withhold money from Ukraine unless a prosecutor investigating his son's business was fired, then we have Biden bragging on camera that they'll more or less do whatever it takes to stop Trump from running in '24. Now we have evidence that both situations are tied to Biden. Only thing left is for evidence on Norstream to surface.
I can't even begin to imagine Trump bragging on camera that he would do X, and then evidence of X tied to his office surfaces, and then even a favorable media outlet just sitting on their hands. Of course in Biden's case that's everyone but Fox.
Biden's corruption is to the point of being nakedly public. Factor in that he can't even add two and two anymore, and ya gotta wonder where the line is for the media to get the go ahead from their masters to finally... DO THEIR ####ING JOB!

Now we have Zelensky threatening to not hold an election unless the US/EU pays for it while a judge just set Trump's trial to March 4th, 2024. That's the day before Super Tuesday election day.
The entire world is upside down and we're supposed to believe nothing's wrong.

Sure you do

The Media has to have been bought off to have gone from merely left to a screaming left turn supporting and or ignoring, depending on the situation, the idiocy of this corrupt Marxist administration.

‘The Whistleblowers Were Right’: CNN’s Honig Says DOJ Was ‘Ready’ To Let Hunter Biden Off ‘Cheaply’ Before Pressure Amped Up
CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig declared that the Hunter Biden whistleblowers “were right” that the Department of Justice was willing to let Biden off “cheaply” on Thursday afternoon.
“DOJ’s giving me whiplash on this one, because six weeks ago they did walk into court and they were ready to get rid of this case for a misdemeanor and dismiss the gun charge,” began the former federal prosecutor. “Now they’re about to indict him for a felony gun charge which would likely carry jail time if there’s a conviction.”
“The only conclusion that I think is consistent with all this is that the whistleblowers were right,” he said.
The legal analyst continued:
That initially DOJ was ready to go in there and give this deal away cheaply. And when the political pressure amped up, DOJ did a complete 180 and now they’ve appointed, they’ve made David Weiss special counsel and now they’re bringing an indictment.
Host Dana Bash then parroted questions asked about the credibility of the whistleblowers by Biden’s lawyers before promptly ending the segment.

Do you actually need CNN, which continues to help cover up the Biden family corruption, to tell you this? Also, it is only a fraction of the DOJ corruption involving the Bidens but CNN offers us this to make it seem like they are impartial.

I'm just going to get my opinion out there now because this topic will likely come up if a Republican wins the WH next fall: If I hear of a prominent GOP politician, talking head on radio, tv, podcast, whatever pushing the notion of letting bygones be bygones in regards to the Biden/Obama III regime when it comes to investigations? I will absolutely LOSE MY SH1T. I want this trail ran down to the ends of the earth. I want people to face actual justice. What these people put this nation through is beyond criminal, and if any of these ######S even jaywalked, I want them to pay up for their crimes.
I'm talking everything from lying on a gun application, to spying on Trump, to withholding exculpatory evidence, etc... and all points in between. There has to be a payment for this. A SEVERE payment. This can NEVER happen in this nation again. EVER.

Not likely the perpetrators are going to face any justice. Most of the crimes against the American people going back to Crossfire Hurricane are beyond the statute of limitations. That is a big reason why they slow walk these investigations including the one involving Hunter Biden. Nearly all the serious crimes he could have easily been charged with are now off the table because they are statute barred. What they are doing now is probably indicting or filing an information against Hunter whereby he will plead guilty and do 3 months home confinement or something similar and then it will go away including the millions of bribes taken in by him and Joe. Most corrupt country in the world.

Your problem there with some of this is the statute of limitations.
Edit: wow HT beat me there. Didn’t get to see his post until after I made mine lol.
