I like Skynyrd. I like most these bands, and am well aware of them. Their guitarists are objectively not as technically talented as those today. You can argue all you want about "musicianship" or ability to write music. That's all subjective taste and I'm not going to argue your subjective tastes as I like these songs too. That was not and is not my point. The people today are OBJECTIVELY more skilled players than that era. It only makes sense, anyway. New techniques, new limits to achieve, etc. Any one of the guys I posted can note for note replicate any song from that era.

As an example, here is what Steve Vai, inarguably a god of guitar, had to say about Tim Henson, "Tim Henson [of Polyphia] is exploring new grounds. Iâ€m seeing an evolution in a direction that I didnâ€t… that I couldnâ€t even see coming. And itâ€s magnificent. I just love hearing those ideas and watching the execution of them.

He thinks totally outside the box. And if you listen to early stuff, you can hear when he was thinking conventionally, but something happened and he just surrendered to some kind of creative vision. And thatâ€s what their music is. Itâ€s fantastic."
