This is getting insane. Washington state predicting. $10/gallon fuel soon. WaPo just posted an article on it but I canâ€t seem to link it.Â
Here in Oregon I paid $6.19 for diesel in the truck yesterday…filled up my fun car to drive to Portland this morning at $6.89/gallon for premium.Â
Just talked to my girlfriend in GA, she just paid $4.09.Â
The poor are getting totally f*cking hammered by this and the worst of it isnâ€t even near.Â
Gonna be a huge revolt in November.

While in previous years the haves were doing better, the have nots were not getting actively screwed in the process

Leaving out the low hanging Biden fruit, can someone explain to me why cost is so high?
1. Russian war driving down supply leading to increased cost?
2. Higher than usual global demand?
3. We are not producing enough in the USA causing global shortages?
4. Supply chain issues, with tankers sitting off the harbor unable to be unloaded?
5. Other?

Post-Covid economy with increasing demand for oil products combined with Biden policy discouraging production and exploration equals massive price increases. Tell food producers you are going to make it difficult for them to produce food and you would get the same result of higher prices. This isn't like entertainment or recreation products where people can just refuse to buy.

We pissed off SA, so we have no real sway with OPEC at the moment to push them to produce more oil to up global supply.

The U.S has 5 years of known Oil Reserves at our current consumption. Probably much more hidden that isn't Public knowledge for the Military and Government uses.
Don't buy Oil from anyone for 6 months tap into that reserve and set a affordable maximum price per gallon on it. Like the States do with liquor and beer prices.
Loosen the regulations for 2 years on drilling and refining in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska

The US was energy independent on Jan 19, 2021. Stolen elections have great consequences. I'm hoping gas goes to $15 USD per gallon in NJ.

"Energy independent" in the sense that we exported more than we imported, but we still buy a lot of oil from the global market.

Yup. Nobody is 100% independent of the rest of the globe.

Yup. Nobody is 100% independent of the rest of the globe. Article i linked explains some Oil out of the Gulf of Mexico makes more sense to export straight to Mexico and then we import Oil from the ME to the East Coast because it is more cost effective then trying to get the Oil from the Gulf to our East Coast.

Did the article mention China has been drilling there?
