Where we disagree is that the church has replaced the Jews and that Israel is a UN hoax. Replacement theology comes from before 1948 before Israel again come back into its promised land as a nation again.
Itâ€s was prophesied that they would be brought back into the land, and even in one day, which happened with a Signature by President Harry Truman. God can use the UN to give the land and Jerusalem back. He used foreign kings all the time look what he did with King Cyrus.
Anyway agree to disagree weâ€ll have to leave it at that.
I never saw a word about the UN or Harry Truman in Scripture.

The woman sitting on the beast is named Babylon because Babylon destroyed Jerusalem in whatever century BC. The woman also has 7 heads. Rome is widely known as the empire built on 7 hills.Â
Despite the fact that many people like to put a modern spin on the story..... Whore is simply a reference to Rome.

Hard to say but you're referring to a past event. The whore may also be the Catholic Church.

Which were current events to those writing at the time.  Christians, for obvious reasons, were not fans of the Roman Empire and that was important to them in their lives. The seven heads really seems to be a direct reference to the 7 hills of the Roman empire. But what do I knowÂ
Babylon next appears in the biblical narrative about 630 years later. The former seat of empire is now a village surrounded and nearly swallowed by a sea of sand. And yet her name begins to reappear in the New Testament canon as a symbol of the world at war with the people God. Peter uses it as a sort of code. He ends his epistle to the churches of Pontus and Bithynia by saying:
She who is at Babylon, who is likewise chosen, sends you greetings, and so does Mark, my son. Greet one another with the kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ. (1 Peter 5:13–14 ESV)
She who is at Babylon.
Peter was nowhere near Babylon when he wrote that letter; Peter was in Rome, but he uses the word “Babylon†as a symbolic way of referring to the new world culture at war with the covenant community. Peter is saying: Rome is the new Babylon. Rome is the new mistress who would seduce and subvert the people of God.

Revelation was written by John after he was exiled to an island. He was the only disciple of Christ to not die a violent death.

I was just referencing other information on the same topic. Clearly I have a different point of view then you, but I don't see anything prophetic and the whore of Babylon. It seems like a bunch of early Christians trashing on Rome for the persecution of Christians among other things. Just my opinion.

I don't pretend to understand Revelation, let alone have an opinion on it. Is it your understanding that Revelation describes something that has already happened?

I look at it from a historical perspective, where you probably look at it from a devotional perspective.

Well, Revelation speaks of a new Earth and I know that part has not yet been fulfilled.

Well, Revelation speaks of a new Earth and I know that part has not yet been fulfilled. That's what all Christians are waiting for.  New earth, redemption of man, the new garden of Eden... Maybe not the new whoreÂ

Christians don't look forward to the redemption of this world but, rather, the return of Christ.

Fine...I guess I lump it all together. Judge not, K9!
Anyway, back to the dirty whore....
Revelations 9: “This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits.
I mentioned earlier that Rome was known as a city that sits on 7 hills.Â
Another hint is in Revelations 18:
The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.â€
At that time, Rome was THE ruling city, right?

I think so. Â
It seems then that the great whore prophecy was fulfilled, but that other aspects of Revelation still wait to be fulfilled.

Considering America was about 1700 years away from being created when the Book of Revelation was written-69 AD, approximately, no, America is not the Whore of Babylon. Fundamentalists can disagree.

Prophecies, by definition, discuss things that have not yet happened.
